USA Today ranks the Big10 projected starting Rbs in 2025

CJ Campbell had good stats - but vs tomatoes like Wagner and Temple (4 TDs total).
Antwan Raymond had 3 TDs vs Kansas alone - 8 TDs total on only 100 carries (4.6 ypc).

"This is a nice transfer to get out of the portal for the Scarlet Knights who had trouble running the ball in 2024".

Now I know we run it more than most, but we had the 2nd leading rusher and the third most yards in 13 games in the B1G. Where do media types come up with this sh*t?

Wasn't recognized and this was ignored >"Rutgers rushed for 2,279 yards, its best total in the Big Ten era, most since 2007 and 10th-highest mark for a season in program history. The 175.3 rushing yards per game ranked third in the Big Ten for the team's best placement since joining the league."

Tells you just how well that article was researched, especially given that it's quite possible that Raymond is the starter this coming season.

I stopped reading it at that part. Writers need to do some damn research.

me too.

it never ceases to amaze me that someone who presumably gets paid makes a statement that, if made on a message board, would literally get crushed.

I read that and thought - what the F is this person talking about? I mean our run game wasnt exactly a juggernaut but I dont remember us "struggling to run the ball"

If I had to, I'd guess this came from a Wisconsin (Badgers Wire) site. Recently they've ranked B1G HC's (Greg #11) and 2025 B1G QB (Aiden #10).

Most sports reporting by National media personalities show that today you can say anything and not worry about fact checking. Just recycle garbage they've heard before or from what was 10 years ago. They know no one outside of local and diehard fans will have a clue as to how wrong what they say or write is so they don't care. Just meet deadline. The consumer will processes what they hear with their own bias anyway so who cares. Microcosm of society today and its de-evolution.

It's all relative Spank. Yes RU piled up some impressive yardage but a number of B1G teams were more efficient which I am guessing the writer was looking at.

The B1G had 4 RB's who averaged 6+ypc. KM was T14 at 5.0, Brown also avg'd 5.0 and Raymond T21 with 4.8.

The one thing they are missing is RU had ZERO lost fumbles by the RB's according to ESPN and 4 in total. There was only 1 other team that had less than 10 (9).

I look at it if this guy is right, RU should have a really nice offense in '25 that opponent defenses can't overplay the rush or pass.

Many sports reporters are big sports fans who happen to be terrible at math and research, despite detailed reliable figures being easily available on the the internet.

Too often, sports reporters parrot press releases and rumors, then don’t follow up when facts appear that prove the press releases and rumors were false.

I followed up with Thamel on this once but he never responded and two years later hasn’t issued a correction.
