VA Tech Kickoffs: short by design?

The sucky thing about TV is I couldnt tell if Jude was intentionally kicking it short on kickoffs? He’d been nailing them out of the end zone the first two weeks!

Part of me hopes it was some strategic call but again, hard to tell on TV. Appreciate insight from those in the stadium. TIA!
