You should know you are being bent over the table when both Republicans and Democrats are on the same side be it invading third world countries or propping up right wing dictators but the general population listens to government propaganda that would make Joseph Goebbels blush

Juan Guaidó Is The Product Of A Decade-Long Project Overseen By Washington’s Elite Regime Change Trainers. While Posing As A Champion Of Democracy, He Has Spent Years At The Forefront Of A Violent Campaign Of Destabilization.

Actually your support for Maduro's tyrannical and oppressive dictatorship should make you blush.

PROPAGANDA, the truth is the socialist government of Venezuela has raised the standard of living of the common people in their country which the upper class of the country does not like.
You are very naive of why the U.S. is so concerned, you really think the U.S. gives a ---- about the people of that country??? Largest oil reserves on this planet is what they care about.

Guyana is becoming our new best friend in the area. They just found huge oil reserves off their coast and they are willing to play ball with the oil companies.

Venezuela is a train wreck and while it is mostly their doing, our country's hands are not totally clean. Yes, Chavez and Maduro socialized the nation, something we are ideologically opposed. In doing so, they took control of their oil industry, something we can not tolerate. Or can we? There are some inconsistencies in our foreign policy. We allow Socialist governments to exist in Scandinavia, some with oil, but not in Central and South America. We pay the Saudi government for their oil, but will not pay the Venezuelan government for theirs. Our nation's oil companies do contract work for the Saudis, but must have total control over Venezuela.

All countries, including ours, have their secret police and screams in the night. So, we can't lay that on only Socialist countries.

Venezuela's wealthiest and smartest are in the US now. Whats left can't muster enough power to overthrow the current regime. So here we are.

    What's next?

Venezuela has been suffering from hyperinflation and shortages of basic goods since 2016. That is a direct consequence of the Maduro and, before him, Chavez regimes.

It has crippled the economy and destroyed the standard of living of its citizens.

And I had thought you had some smarts, I guess not.
While Maduro and Chavez are not totally blameless, they did have some missteps, but falling oil prices that were spurred on by our government conspiring with Saudis to lower oil prices hurt Venezula economy along with sanctions which in itself is an act of war., that along with U.S. and their axis of power seized and or froze billions in funds that belonged to Venezula. Why do you not mention this?????????????

I didn’t mention your narrative because it is fantasy. The hyperinflation and shortages were a direct result of price controls imposed first by Chavez. A drop in oil prices tends to hurt totalitarian regimes dependent of natural resource extraction for government revenue (revenue they confiscated from privately owned companies who developed the resources).

Two things can be true at the same time. Maduro is no good but you would think we would of learned by now to not prop up other countries leaders or is this not what we have spent the past few months arguing about?

I didn't watch the video but I am always up for learning and will.

My point was more that we (United States) should not get involved in foreign domestic issues and if we do, we have no right to say anything about Russia interfering in the 2016 election.

Beginning in 1953 in Iran, every time we have tried to prop up a leader of a foreign country, it has back-fired.

When counter protesters attack peaceful protesters Federal police stand by and watch and do nothingdo nothing to help and protect American citizens. So much for our freedom and democracy, this is what Amerika has become in the corporate security state.

Secret Service violently arrests Veterans For Peace president a Vietnam Vet for trying to get food to the embassy

Shameful and Un-American Secret Service violently arrests Veterans For Peace president for trying to get food to the #Venezuela embassy collective. They then cut all power to the legal occupants inside. The extent Trump's thugs are willing to go--especially to US citizens--to carry out this coup is horrifying.

I know some venezuelans. They feel Maduro is Chavez without any brains. He is a thug and a criminal. Most Venezuelans want him gone. It would be better for the country and it's economy if he was gone.
He could always go back to being a bus driver.

First of all it is not as you call it "regimes" they were democratically elected more so then our own government.
While there is some blame to be placed on the government much of the problems are due to falling oil prices which the U.S may have influenced along with sanctions that affect the people and we also have the U.S. along with its axis of evil partners that either froze or outright stolen billions in Venezuela assets.
Why is it no one mentioned how their Socialist government raised the standard of living for the poor of the country.

    From Bloomberg Business

Venezuelans’ quality of life improved at the third-fastest pace worldwide and income inequality narrowed during the presidency of Hugo Chavez, who tapped the world’s biggest oil reserves to aid the poor.

Venezuela moved up seven spots to 73 out of 187 countries in the United Nation’s index of human development from 2006 to 2011, a period that covers the latter half of Chavez’s rule, which ended with his death March 5. That progress trails only Cuba and Hong Kong in the index, which is based on life expectancy, health and education levels.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    Contact: Howie Hawkins, howie@howiehawkins.us

(SYRACUSE, NY - February 14, 2020) Howie Hawkins, candidate for the Green Party presidential nomination, applauds today’s outcome in the Trump Administration’s prosecution against protectors of the Venezuelan Embassy. Today, the court declared a mistrial after jurors were unable to come to a unanimous decision to convict the embassy protectors of the charge of “interfering with certain protective functions” of the federal government, two of which are key figures in the Green Party and on the Howie Hawkins campaign.

“I am grateful for the resolve of the jurors who held out and caused today’s hung jury,” said Hawkins. “It shows that the overreach in foreign policy of the Trump Administration is not popular among the American public,” he continued.

The four defendants were arrested after a standoff with the Trump Administration and with District of Columbia police, after self-proclaimed Venezuelan president Juan Guaidó attempted to illegally take control of the Venezuelan embassy in Washington. The four were in the embassy at the invitation of the elected Maduro government of Venezuela, and the Trump Administration imposed power and water shut-offs, and prevented humanitarian aid of food and water, in an attempt to dislodge the embassy protectors from the building. The standoff ended on May 16, 2019, after federal agents illegally stormed in a SWAT-style fashion and arrested the unarmed, peaceful embassy protectors.

The judge issued a de-facto gag order on important defense evidence, including denying the defense’s request to include as evidence tweets from Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza and Venezuelan Vice Minister for North America Carlos Ron.

One of the defendants, Margaret Flowers, MD., is a national co-chair of the Green Party of the United States. Another defendant is Kevin Zeese, who is the Press Secretary for the Howie Hawkins 2020 campaign, as well as a delegate from Maryland to the National Committee of the Green Party. Both Flowers and Zeese are members of the Maryland Green Party coordinating committee and are former candidates for US Senate in Maryland. All four embassy protectors voted for the Jill Stein/Ajamu Baraka ticket in 2016.

“We stand with Greens and other progressives everywhere, who are proud of the actions that Flowers, Zeese and the others, in favor of peace and the self-determination of autonomous nations,” stated Hawkins. “This shows that Greens are willing to do whatever is necessary to stand up for justice.”

The four defendants have been ordered to appear before the court again on February 28 to hear whether the Trump Administration intends to pursue prosecution again.
