It is not yet available online, but in the most recent NJ Monthly magazine Pat Hobbs did a Q&A with Steve Adubato:

He brought up something that I ,and many here, have said frequently that is somewhat of a hot button topic, but I'm hoping people listen to him:

Talking about recruiting and booster having patience and buying in he mentioned that Our fans , in essence, need to learn how our demeanor on game day plays in the overall recruiting process.

From the Article:
"We can't have our athletes being booed. You don't see that occur at other Big Ten schools " (which is accurate in my travels). "If you are a parent of someone considering Rutgers and you hear boos or screaming at the coach, is that place you would want your son or daughter to play? What we have to show is if you come and play a sport at Rutgers you will be applauded and appreciated win or lose"

I personally agree with this statement. Our fan base needs to start maturing and remember these are College students playing a game. There is a time and place to bitch and moan, but at the game about your own team is not one of them. Cheer then bitch and complain after the game on the message boards.

I hate booing college kids, but FWIW, I heard booing in a game at OSU this year and they won a national championship last year!

The bottom line is this- like our programs, they aren't the only thing that needs to mature.

So osu boos, does that make it right. Booing college students and coaches is base and disrespectful to the kids and the school. Flood was booed when making a public service ad.
I was embarrassed that we could have such uncouth cretans, no this is not the pros and if you feel you have to express your personal feeling go back to the pro games where low lifes abound.
I do not attend BB games but I assume the boo-foons are out in force. Here is a good example Eddie Jordan come back to help Rutgers. He does not need to do this job.
It is shameful that some must express themselves this way at our campus.

I won't cheer for a loser , but I won't boo one either at this level . Yes , you can boo the coach in obvious situations . Maybe like sitting on the ball at the end of the half when you're down by 3 plus scores .

Good Lord is this emanating from when the fans booed Flood for pulling rettig after one play?

What a silly topic and creation of drama where none should be. RU athletes have enjoyed uniform support. AD's coaches etc have heard it for sure.

I think the problem was when people booed Laviano when he came back in.

If you want to go with the bolded that is your prerogative.

Yep, that was shameful. I've never booed a Rutgers team or player and never will. I will criticize play on the board, though (with respect, hopefully, except maybe in a game thread, lol).

Disagree. They booed (right or wrong) the decision to take Rettig out after a single play.

there has not been booing at the RAC...somewhat suprising but I think people are just apathetic and accepted how terrible the program is so they don't get upset anymore

Knuckle Dragger Emerges!

Knuckle dragger??? You clearly know not who you post about.

That being said, aren't you one of the two or three vocal flood and laviano posters at season's end?

To be fair, people would actually have to show up in order to boo.

Coaches decision or not the fact remains people boo'd Laviano coming back in. That's a fact and the way it was perceived by the Laviano, other fans, media, and probably other kids on the team. No amount of BS can change that.

It's that simple.

Booing is so cheesy.
But to those who say that these are just college boys and not the pros... That's really not the argument. This bcs level football is a lot closer to the pros than it isn't. These guys come to rut and osu and psu for that pro opportunity.
Either way, even booing at nfl games is so cheesy - get a hold of your self
