open up the playbook? they can't even passably execute the vanilla playbook

Blitz: it's "easy" to pick on a vanilla defense. That's why back up QBs can light it up in pre-season but once they face a game plan specifically geared to stop the plays and throws he prefers, it gets much tougher.
