Well if you look they also have the same deal for many schools including several B1G schools.
It’s great advertising and may lead to some future fans. I think it’s a great idea!
These things are great. Would you rather the seats be empty? Who cares about the perception. The reality is every program/team is struggling to fill stadiums. Penn State would have had 10k + last week if they hadn't given away tickets to military members. That would have been unhear of years ago but people are not attending sporting events live like they use to. I think it great when schools/teams make an affordable way to attend a game.
Major college and pro sports priced out lower income people decades ago and has now priced out much of the middle class. I can tell you flat out that my Dad never would have been able to take me to Rutgers games when I was a kid if sky high tickets and rip off parking and food prices of today were the comparable prices back then. It is an old phrase too—empty seats don’t buy hot dogs.
I posted this elsewhere but when you do redeem, it’s limited quantity and games like UCLA and UW were “sold out” and you can’t see which games until after you buy the voucher.
If you scroll down there is a link to see what's available before purchasing. I just checked and there's a few left for UCLA. Maybe they added some.
