Coy as anything. Might see him in limited role by Saturday. I’m sure he’s kept up his conditioning.
Game conditioning is tough to keep up with without playing. I wouldn't count on seeing vintage Baker in his first game back. Sure it won't take long after that assuming full practice availability.
No vintage Baker sure. But 15 minutes of Baker would help us against Minnesota for sure.
Did I miss something? Didn't sound like he hinted that Geo might be back Saturday. Pike was asked about Geo and when the cast comes off and Pike responded that he basically doesn't know anything, and that the doctor will decide when Geo can play. Pike was asked when Geo sees the doctor, and Pike avoided answering a couple times and then said in a day or two. But that only means that is when Geo next sees the doctor, not that he will be ready to play.
We all want Geo back as soon as possible, but above all we want him playing in late February and beyond.
I agree with Upstream. Nothing definitive when Geo will be back and whether it’s up to the doctors or Pike is playing coy.

SS has it right. Protecting Geo. No need to have people judge a player on whether a player should return or not.
It has to be up to the doctors first and foremost without question. Only with medical approval from the doctors and the approval of the player and training and coaching staff should one return from any injury.
He’s been coy about Baker since the injury. Was asked point blank in the Nebraska postgame Press conference how it happened and gave a non answer - called it a “practice thing.”
I think this thread got derailed. No one is judging anyone. First priority is Geo’s health. Obviously! But if he gets the cast off and gets clearance to play then why wouldn’t he? Obviously he’s not playing 30 minutes the game he gets back. My thought is based on the video and previous comments it’s a relatively minor injury.
I would not expect him back in the next 3 to 4 games....my only guess would be Nebraska at home.
I was just agreeing with another poster that Pike is protecting Geo. I’m not calling anyone out.
What made you post this? Nothing in the interview to that effect. Only thing Pike said is that maybe he'll see a doctor in the next day or two.
Sorry, unless I completely missed something, Coach said absolutely nothing to say that Geo might be back by Saturday. I get that he's cagey and it might be possible (I've also thought he might be back before Feb), but am wondering what you're basing your comments on.
He said he was seeing the doctor in a “day or so” after claiming he didn’t know when he was seeing him. It’s as if he was trying to hide the fact he might be back sooner than expected. Also thinking back to “day to day”
Comment from announcer the other day. But you’re right...I have no solid empirical evidence here.
