Walk-on News

Any help we can get in the defensive backfield is welcome. Hope he works out as another "find" in the recruiting wars.

Position of need, and I have every confidence in the evaluation of the talent. Can't do anything but cheer, at this point.

Speaking of walk ons... can we be the first to have a female receiver? this girl can catch!

Knight, please define undersized. The kid seems to always be around the football and not afraid to hit and tackle. Could easily see him as a special team contributor.

He is 5'9 170, at CB, which would make him smaller than most B1G DB. Likely a reason for not getting P5 or Tier II D1 offers. As you note he has skill, which is why he likely attracted the notice of the staff. Maybe he still grows a bit, or maybe he finds his way on to ST. But 5'9 170 would porbably fit the definiton of undersized.

RU62. I'm not saying in anyway that he won't be able to contribute. The kid has speed and attitude when he plays. Just pointing to his size.

You gotta love this kids motor. Looks fast, hustles and is not afraid to stick his nose in there and make a tackle. Very impressive.

You're trying to disprove the point but are actually proving it. Most guys at the position are bigger. Are there exceptions, absolutely. Typical Rutgers fan, you need to complain about something on the board to make your day. You actually took the time to find out that most guys on the first and second teams you researched are taller but left that out of your analysis by pointing out you found a guy the same height and one even shorter in your analysis. Is "bigger better"? Most of the time, yes.

Typical glass half empty Rutgers fan pissing on our players. . . . . 1" don't mean crap. Have nice day. I'm done with this.

Do coaches have to wait until a walk-on enrolls (or begins camp for PWO) to be allowed to discuss or acknowledge them publicly?

Some programs like Nebraska and Texas A&M (and Penn State recently) are famous for walk-ons contributing. Do these programs bend the rules and give generous financial packages that are non athletic scholarships but generous nonetheless? The top lacrosse programs do it routinely, delivering financial packages that are non athletic scholarships, but great packages nonetheless. The Ivy And Patriot leagues did this to a lesser extent, but do it, as well. Has John Feinstein ever done a book on college recruiting?

If and when he does it will pretty easy to figure out who he'll pick for the "villain".

Snorweah wasnt moved to defense permanently.

He was practicing as a corner because of necessity. He still didnt get playing time at all so he's likely not going to remain at that position.

It all resets with the new coaching staff. I expect him to get a shot at RB first again.

On record as preferring defense.

Neal could have a role as a nickel CB that covers the shorter, quicker slot receivers when an offense goes to a 3 receiver or 4 receiver set that spreads the field. Also a special teams role could be there for him.
