Was anyone else hoping Grant took a knee at the 1 yard line on his last return?

I was hoping Grant took a knee at the 1 yard line so we could ice the clock, force WSU to use TOs, score an easy rushing TD and only give WSU a few seconds to score on their last drive. Its a risk, but our D couldn't stop WSU all day. Giving them nearly 2 minutes to score with 2 TOs was a recipe for disaster.

In that moment, after he juked out the punter at the 10 yard line, with everyone in the stadium losing it, you stood there and said to yourself, "hey, take a knee right now." ? Really?

It would only have used up a few more seconds.

Listen, if our defense can't stop a team from going 90 yards in a minute, the loss is deserved.

Jacobs had an easy INT to seal the win and choked.

Used up a few seconds? We could have bled the clock or at least forced WSU to use their TOs.

We would have just got a few penalties and had to rely on Federico from the 25 for a tie.

Interesting thought. He could have run across the field before the goal line to extend the play and bleed the clock, but as someone else noted, it's Grant's job to return the kick as far as possible, and he has to believe his team mates will do their job.

I was thinking that we'd probably be better off if Grant had just gotten close but not scored, allowing us to use up the rest of the clock as we scored a td and leaving nothing for WSU to work with. BUT we had already gotten two or three tds called back by dumbass penalties and Laviano had been more than generous with the ball several times earlier in the game. All we would have needed was another chop block or holding penalty. Or for Lumpkin to "tackle" our ball carrier. But I sure as hell knew we left WSU with too much time.
WE couldn't stop their offense. NO pass rush. Weak pass defense. I was just hoping for a big play by our D. And we almost got it from Jacobs. And Turay. And Lambert.
Tough, tough loss....in OUR HOUSE.

I had the same thought but quickly dismissed it. He did the right thing. There is no player in college football or probably even the nfl that would have stopped at the one.
