We have no money. We are broke.
That's the constant rumblings coming from those supposedly in the know.
Therefore, Flood's job is safe as the administration is held hostage by fiscal constraints.
Can you imagine?
We just don't have the resources at this time to hire a proficient coaching staff.
The fan base is fed up.
Buying tickets to football and basketball games is akin to buying a new car.
They depreciate the second you receive them.
At least with a car there is some resale value.
To add insult to injury, for the right to purchase these tickets a luxury tax is added on in the form
of priority points.
I would venture to say that virtually all of us are willing to pay more for a good product.
If the mantra is true that we have no money and cannot afford to make the changes necessary to
compete, then fan support will wane.
It is evident that Kyle Flood is not the right coach to lead this program.
Does Barchi control the athletic department?
Is Julie the AD in title only?
It's time for leadership to step up and make the necessary changes which include fundraising.
Allowing the current state to continue into next season will be an insult to the fan base.
"We are broke" has gotten old.
Fix it!

Agree.
The "we are broke" sob story has gotten old.
We need leadership to step up and make the changes needed now.
Doing nothing is not acceptable .
There will be a real money problem next season when thousands of season ticket holders drop put along with their donations if Flood and staff is still here.

If you need two new tires on your car, two tires will cost 300 bucks, but you only have 250 bucks, how do you get those tires?

I don't know how much of this "broke" message is just putting pressure on donors. This seems to be Julie's M.O. Ie the parking donation thing and selling less spaces. It's smart.

There's 30k season ticket holders. There's parking, concessions, seat donations, Audi club seats, sponsorships, single game ticket sales, bowl revenue, and not to mention TV revenue(while not a full share still significantly more than what we had before.) There's also ancillary benefits of increased PR, applications, student life, and funding other sports programs.

This is big business. Think about what RU doesn't have, that most of our new peers do. And that's a culture of giving.

Don't forget that they were looking at other coaches in 2013. They have money.

I agree with both sentiments above. Am I wrong in the belief that we are already getting some nice coin from the Big 10, although not a full share?

And with all this new "increased revenue" of millions of dollars we are only paying our current B1G Head Coach less than half of the Annual Salary of Greg Schiano's final year in 2011. That being 2011 in the AAC. We are now in the B1G. Something is not right here.

I think they have money, and will make a change. As others have said on here, I think they learned their lesson from 2013. Loose lips sink ships

Hit it on the head. This is what ADs do. They play both sides so it's a win-win. Either she continues to cry poor, or rides in as the hero with a new coach.

But money is not the issue when 10 AAC teams can pay more to their coach than us. They make 2M/yr on their TV deal!! That's the most simple fact. Money is an issue for getting a BIG coach, but it's certainly not the issue in making a change.

Does anyone know the details on why Rutgers is broke? NJ is very expensive to live in. Rutgers is a state school. I don't understand why we have no money? I admit, I don't follow this type of stuff too closely.

we have a pile of money coming from the B1G--not speculation but fact. Not here yet but coming. Thus. we're not broke as when you have money coming there is a way to get money today. Only broke if the caretakers want it that way.

What do you mean "not here yet"/ Aren't we already on the Big 10 graduated sharing?

You buy used tires (retreads) until you can afford new tires.

I understand the argument to keep Flood due to lack of funds to hire a top notch coaching staff. But at some point you have to evaluate your return on your investment. Flood was acceptable due to the lack of finances until his nonsense of contacting a professor regarding a player's grade. Compound that with the legal issues that depleted our secondary and the bar to replace him isn't very high. The reality of RU's finances are that the best day on this board this offseason will be the day Flood is fired and the worst will be the day his replacement is announced.
