I've been wearing my Rutgers shirt all day today. I'm doing it to show the world that Rutgers University is not defined by a few thugs that were kicked off the football team or by the misguided actions of the head football coach - no matter how well intentioned. I am proud to be a Rutgers alumnus and I want everyone to know it. We, the students, alumni, faculty and fans represent all the positive features of one of the greatest learning and research institutions in the world. Our student-athletes demonstrate extraordinary balance with excellence in athletics as well as academics. It takes great desire and commitment to put forth the effort demanded to be both a first class athlete and a first class student. The high APR rating of our football team shows they have what it takes. I am more impressed with them now then ever. They deserve our full support and praise. I can't wait for Saturday because I know they are going to deliver an unparalleled effort that will demonstrate their ongoing commitment to excellence. Our pride in RU should not be diminished because of recent events. We will emerge stronger and galvanized by this adversity. We are Rutgers and we should be proud of our great accomplishments - the best is yet to come!
