Maybe there should be a shelf life on these offers ...like food or medicine: Best if used by / discard after.

RU was a hard sell till Schiano. Think Flood needs to channel his inner Gumba... man up / go for it. Meyer, Harbaugh and TCFP (That Coach From PA) have ego's the size of inflamed conjones.

Memo to Flood: Just do SOMETHING to help the dominoes fall / prove those of us with doubts wrong.

I do feel your pain. Its the most uneventful time of the year for RU football right now. But Flood channeling his inner "Gumba" is what ultimately resulted in The Great Exodus of 2013. Patience is key here and we need to get people who are sure about RU. If i'm Flood i'm not worried about "proving the doubters wrong" until national LOI day. But I have to agree, I am dying to see the first domino fall finally, for my own gratification.

As opposed to several years ago where we had many early commits who later changed their mind and went elsewhere. I don't follow recruiting close at all, mainly what I read on here. I am sure there are others who live and die with each tweet or verbal. I just can't get that excited one way or the other until much closer to signing day.

I really don't know what people expect Flood to do that he hasn't done already. It's not up to him, it's the recruits decision.

He's offered. The kids have unofficially visited, some numerous times. He's sat every kid down and spoken openly and honestly from what we're told. They all seem to like Flood and the staff A LOT. It just seems like no one wants to be the first of the Big Time kids RU is waiting on.

I don't think it's a Kyle Flood issue as much as it's a Rutgers in general issue. For NJ kids, staying in state just doesn't have the same panache as going elsewhere even if it means going to a program that hasn't been as successful as RU recently. I don't know how to change that because it seems to go further than any recruit. It's also the HS coaches, friends, family, and hangers on.

Schiano didn't have this problem. Knightfan7.

Your execuse is flawed as schiano brought in top nj recruits each year.

I tend to agree with this. Schiano was a master at recruiting but the message he gave was about winning the whole thing which is something he never did. In fact, he couldn't win the BE. I think Flood's message is more fatherly than that of a coach. How this resonates with most of the recruits is still out there. Being in the BIG may not be helping as much right now as many hoped. May take a lot longer to become really relevant.

Before you make a blanket statement like that you should check what actually happened because the stats don't back you up. Yes, 2007 and 2011 were good years. 2011 was helped greatly when Pitt cleaned house close to LOI day and Schiano was lucky to hire several of their coaches who brought recruits with them including Nova and 1 or 2 others.

Between 2008 and 2010, Schiano signed 8 (17.8%) of the Top 45 players in NJ. The two highest rated were Art Forst #3 in 2008, and Issac Holmes #5 in 2009. A couple never played or were special teamers. BC, PSU, Mich, ND, and Pitt all approached that number.

Luck huh? Too bad HCKF hasn't even had that !! KF seems like a great guy but kids seems to prefer flash and brash to the admirable qualities our HC has...Franklin? Meyer?...I wish we had even a Wannstadt...I think Pitt messed up dumping him and kids respected and liked him. Also he loved his school and would never have left..at least it appeared that way to me.

We just need to win and all this will change. End up 8-4 one year with a win over a national powerhouse (ie. Nebraska, Mich St, or Ohio St) in a year when they go to a big bowl. In the past we had some big top 25 upsets that helped recruiting.

The QB position is the biggest recruiting obstacle any coach has to solidify. Once RU, has a QB commit the dominos will either fall or go elsewhere, or a combination of both. Patience has never been my best virtue, but I(we) have no choice. Hope for the best.

Top class in NJ in years and the number of committed recruits in top 20 thus far = 0. Better pray we win 8 games this year because 6 wins isn't going to help come fall
