the game is at noon because the big 10 wants to maximize all time zones so there will always be a west coast team playing at noon so they could get a 9am game there....

9AM pacific for kickoff is not a disadvantage. Well.. hmm.. maybe if they have to wakeup at teh equivalent of 6AM their time to make the game... hmm... well.. by 9AM their bodies will be wide awake and raring to go. If there is a disadvantage it will be in pregame prep for them.
