To start.. I don't care what Matter or any of the PSU trolls say.. This was RU's best match of the year!! As a team they got after it, and were out to WIN!! Did Penn St wrestle their best? Think that's an obvious no... Why not? Could be a few factors involved... 1: Raucous away match atmosphere... Yeah, yeah, I know, Penn St wrestled better teams, in much larger venues...But y'all weren't in Kansas anymore Toto... This is Jersey!!! We're twice as loud, and twice as crazy!! Great job by the fans today!! Provided a great home atmosphere!! When the "we are" chant started.. It was quickly, and i mean quickly shut down by the overwhelming RU faithful..2: Nolf getting hurt... Really think that took some of the wind out of PSU's sails.. I'm sure I'm not the only one on here that has followed PSU the last several years.. Nothing has seemed to faze them anywhere they've went.. Until today... As a whole they seemed a lil off their game... 3: most important.. RU smacked them in the face!! Literally!!! lol...(not to condone what Deluca did..more on that later) I don't think they expected RU to come after them as hard as we did.. But to their credit.. They still managed to win all the bouts that they should've.. Just not by the margins they've become accustomed to..

125: Suriano... Typical match.. Not much to be said here.. He gets a good test Friday with Rivera..

133: Delvecchio.. Now that's more like his matches.. Low scoring, pull ur hair out, curse him up and down, then applaud his victory...Cant say his matches aren't exciting in the 3rd period..

141: MVB... Good hard match vs a top 8 opponent.. Lee coming off mauling Thorn, who nearly majored Ashnault 2 yrs ago... Think he has made tremendous strides this year.. He is becoming one you cant take for granted... Needs a lot of work to refine his technique and build confidence.. But the talent is there to be a potential AA down the line

149: DeLuca... I get that when ur wrestling someone at Zain's level, u have to find an equalizer.. Yes it got him off his game a lil.. But giving up 4 pts to a guy like Zain (who puts up enough pts on his own) is uncalled for...Yes, you want to be physical.. But you don't want to get a rep as a dirty wrestler.. On the flip side.. Whens the last match ZR didn't score any back points? Clean it up ED..

157: JVB... I'm not a praying man.. But Nolf's health will be in my thoughts tonight.. I'm sure JVB will tell you that the only way he wants his hand raised against Nolf is after 7 minutes!! That said, he came out aggressive and was really wrestling with great effort.. Would that have held up against a wrestler as relentless as Nolf? Most probably not...But at the time of the injury.. It was still a match...Again, tough to say how it woulda played out... Nolf definitely looked a lil off before the injury.. But he is as dangerous a wrestler as there is out there and can put up a 10 spot in lterally no time... Really hope to see him back again this year!!

165: Lewis...He really did all he could do out there.. seemed to gain confidence as the match went on.. Had a few chances to win the match.. But OMG is Joseph a HUGE 165!! He looks like a 174 out there!! (Literally, he looks bigger than Hall) Good effort by Lewis.. But now gotta get back after it.. Imar on Sunday!! B1G wrestling.. Gotta bring it every match

174: Grello... Just totally outclassed.. He;s been wrestling well of late.. Gotta shake it off and get his head back on straight.. keep improving.. Think he should be a lil closer than a tech ... But again Hall is on another level..

184: Gravina... Bo not at his best.. And Gravina raising his level of wrestling made for a great match... Gravina was able to keep the pace of the match to where he wanted , and stayed out of Nickal's comfort zone.. Big improvement from when the 2 met last year... Again.. Now he has to build off it.. Tough matches for him next week.. Sliga is no slouch.. And Parker has beaten Nicky a few times... Gotta get after it again!!

197: 285: Messner/ Normandia... good job limiting to majors... 2 depth guys who deserved a chance to wrestle in that atmosphere!!

Solid write up. Penn State fan here. Great crowd and your team got after it. I’m sick for Nolf, but saw it as a reffing issue and Jason pushing his gumbyish frame a little too hard. I’ve seen his joints in bad situations and have held my breath before. Was Van Brill grabbing his ankle and levering it? Yes, but there was no yanking and nothing out of bounds.

Yeah - Joseph is built like a refrigerator

Joseph also a lot quicker than I have him credit for... I thought that might be advantage for Lewis...

Another Penn Stater that was there this afternoon. Your write up was right on the money jerzey. As Chickenman said above, I'm layin' this one on the official. From my vantage point today I didn't even realize Nolf was hurt until he didn't get up, but after watching the replay when I got home, the official was in perfect position to see the potentially dangerous. Great match!

Hope Nolf is OK. That is a hell of a lineup you guys can put out there. Good luck the rest of the season.

I was 15 ft away from it... Nolf didn't utter a sound... But the look in his eyes... I really hope he is ok and makes it back this season...He is a fun wrestled to watch...

Also to add on... If anyone had a question as to why Suriano left Penn St.. Just look at the contrast in how both teams warmed up... PSU, joking around, loose and relaxed...At one point Nolf was playing around with the drums! Not saying anything wrong with that as obviously it works for them...And works extremely well... RU looking a lot more serious... Doing A lot more drilling on the mat... It's a total contrast in styles... And you can see why Suriano fits right in with that.. He may be the most intense of em all!!

Another great point with respect to Suriano. Even last year we noticed the same thing. Nick is intensely focused and didn't interact with the rest of our team. Certainly appears to be a contrast in philosophy, neither one of which is wrong.

Where is Mulligan. He quit the team early this year did he do it again. Waste of $$$!$
Didn't know he quit the team earlier. All we got was he's not with us right now and he'll be back sometime this week. Sounds like a kid who might just be getting burned out on the sport. It happens and I never blame any kid who does. It's just a grueling sport.

I was pretty ashamed of some of the "hand fighting" yesterday. That wasn't wrestling, that was cheap. And just like the Ashanult post I made earlier, its the getting on twitter later and bragging about it that is a problem. I really hope there is some discipline instilled because as a NJ wrestling fan, I am a bit ashamed of how normal that kind of behavior is becoming.

Hard hand fighting and open faced slaps are different. Two guys getting on twitter and being proud of it? ugh.

Hope Nolf is okay... I'm not a prayer type of guy, I did a short prayer when he got hurt. I hate seeing those things to anyone, let alone a national champ and a clean wrestler. Here's to a speedy recovery in time for him to successfully defend his title come March.

He is done ..he quit again .. no big loss considering he already quit on the mats ..we sure won’t be getting points out of this weight anymore

I guess we'll be in the market for a 197 lber now. That'll leave a hole for next year. Kid really didn't seem into it these last few matches. So not a big loss.
