I understand we gave up a lot in the air, but Wharton has shown that he can make some big plays when needed. That int was great coverage. I noticed a big tip by him on third down. And early in the first quarter he had tight coverage in the end zone forcing a high throw. Obviously he and Austin are going to get beat on some big plays, but he's playing better at CB for his freshman year than Nadir. We really need to keep Rene, Campbell, and Hayes in this incoming class. That would be a nice start to building depth there

These freshman DB's look good. Maybe by this time next and year after that they will be the strength of the defense.

we have some decent ..very decent young guys in the back field. Young mistakes..yes. But just another example of what you can learn about your players in the games vs. the practices.

Not sure who our Db coach is but I think he must be pretty darn good to not only hold this mess together but coach them up... IMHO

I sort of looked like Austin got a concussion or maybe a neck strain. But before that, he was playing pretty well. I agree about Wharton too. These kids have talent and if all goes well, we could wind up with a pretty strong secondary in a couple years.

Totally agree. After losing everyone that we lost, it's great to see guys like Wharton and Austin step up and show serious potential

I agree. These guys where not going to see a ton of time this year. They have stepped up and are doing great. Next year I hope to see these guys play lights out!

The young CBs have developed quite a bit since the summer and continue to get better. Fans need to understand how difficult it is to play as a freshman (especially on defense). You can study all the film you want, but the game is moving a million miles per hour and you're not able to play free.
Notice how our coverage is getting tighter and tighter every week and tackling is getting better... Good signs
