What did everyone here expect? We lost our senior QB, 3 new OL, best receiver suspended, young/inexperienced secondary with no depth, best DL hurting, bend but not break defense strategy, a DL that can't generate any pass rush, great young RB's in Hicks & Martin but coaching staff seems to be loyal to James even though he doesn't look like his old self. Apparent favoritism towards Laviano over Rettig, similar to James over Hicks/Martin. It just seems that the coaching staff has blinders on and show unconditional loyalty which is going to bring their demise.
I get it, we have a young starting QB and OL, doesn't that make sense to run your best RB and feed him the ball? Doesn't it make sense than to play ball control, clock consuming offense to keep your defense off the field as much as possible? If you going to throw, doesn't it make sense to have the guy with a cannon for an arm be the one throwing the ball to stretch the field instead of 5 yard dinks which allows the opponent to stack the box?
We will be lucky to win 5 games this year. I say let's use this year to get the younger guys game experience and be prepared for next year, the way this year has been going, the end couldn't come quick enough. This year with Ohio St., Mich St., Wisc, Neb, Mich still on the schedule and than MD & IND, let's just get the young guys much needed game experience.
