With the number of close losses in the toughest conference, would 2 games under 500 get a look???
Might as well go all the way and win the final two in that case, put the 27 year drought to bed12-14 now, win last 4 and two in the B1G Tourney.
Finish 18-15 and 9-11 in B1G.
Last year Boston College got in at 19-16 and they were 7-11 in ACC
This would do it. I don't see it happening, but we would deserve an NIT bid with this. We'd be in the 7-10 range and have to beat one of the top three in the tournament to get that 2nd win.12-14 now, win last 4 and two in the B1G Tourney.

Or... we need a time machine. Go back and beat Fordham, Illinois, and Iowa. Then we'd be 15-11 now (7-9 B1G). Win three of last four (lose at Iowa) to finish 18-12 regular season (10-10). Win our first B1G game to get win #19 in the toughest league in the nation and we'd be in.
Best case scenario is to win our two home games, split the two on the road and win one game in the tournament. Finish .500 for the year and then we can start thinking post season play in 2020.
Really is a shame though. I understand the construction of the tournaments but there are about 100 schools that make the NCAA/NIT field. We are absolutely one of the top 100 teams in the nation right now.
no lol, maybe next year
Well, if I understand how the RU screw works, if Rutgers wins the B1G Tournament then they'd get an auto bid to the NIT. Is that how it works?
Teams with losing records don't get invited to the NIT.In fact the NIT has become far more difficult to get a invite with most of the slots given to teams not selected by the NCAA or teams coming in second for league championships. With the number of close losses in the toughest conference, would we get a look???

One of the biggest factors will be how many small conference regular season winners win their conf tournament for an AQ in the NCAA's rather than taking an at large away from the NIT.
Remember that a 19-13 (8-10) Maryland got snubbed by the NIT last season (and declined a CBI bid).
