What is our '18-'19 schedule looking like?

There was some good discussion in this thread: https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/scheduling-changes-effective-for-2018-2019-for-b1g-10.140769/#post-3200214

- Moving to 20 B1G games, which changes up our OOC play.
- Also have UMass, Fordham, and SHU as away OOC games.
- Also likely to play an away game in the B1G-ACC challenge
- May also play a B1G-BE challenge game
- No word on an exempt tournament

So, the OOC will look much tougher next year than this year.

Instead of 13 home OOC games (1 vs. ACC, 1 vs. BE) and 9 home/away B1G games, we'd be looking at potentially 7 home and 4 away OOC games (1 vs. ACC, 2 vs. BE) and 10 home/away B1G games.

Thanks. We are going to need to play a cream puff non exempt tournament to get 4 auto Ws.

20 B1G
3 away (Ford, Umass, SHU)
1 away (BE or ACC) no way Delaney should have us play 2 games

8 games left. Need 6 or 7 autowins here. Although nothing is an autowin.

Every Big 10 team participates in the B1G-ACC challenge, it's only one ACC team that sits out. And since we were left out of the Gavitts this season, I'd expect us to be back next year.

DePaul isn't terrible any more, what is Delaney going to do? Any chance they make the SHU game a Gavitt games game?

On the bright side, what are the odds that the schedule ends up with us playing each of the top four tournament seeds twice again next year? :D

DePaul still isn't very good but they're better-----had a nice road win at Providence.

I think you can win there.

No road game in Gavit games. Played the Johnnies and Depaul on the road.

We play SHU at the PRU Center this coming season. There is no way that will be part of the Gavitt games. The last two times we played in that we were on the road at St. John's in Nov 2015 and at Depaul in November 2016. I assume we will get a home game in the Gavitt games this coming November. Maybe we will get to play Georgetown being that we have already played Depaul & the Johnnies.

Sorry no road games, knights already wrote we played on the road twice already.

I would be more than happy with a November or early December visit to Georgetown....always good to showcase in the DMV and if the game is a Saturday, it would be a solid draw for RU fans to get to.

Why would we have to be the only team to play this tourney three times on the road. Home game please. And right now at Seton Hall, at Fordham. Home game vs Georgetown would be good.

The point is we are playing some road games, why be on the road versus the Big East. Do you understand what i am writing?

You played SHU at home this year and the you were home for the ACC/Big 10 matchup.

It isn't like it's going to the Dean Dome to play at Gtown .

We'll probably be away for the B1G/ACC matchup, but I'd imagine we'd be home if we were part of the B1G/BE challenge this year - I don't think we've had a home game in that challenge yet. The first two years were at SJU and DePaul, and we didn't participate last year. My expectation is a home matchup.

Seton Hall losses 4 starters and probably 80% of its scoring.. We win big on the road and Pack the Pru.

Hearing
At Umass
At Fordham
At seton hall
At Acc in big ten/acc challenhe
Home in big east challenge
6 “cupcakes” at the RAC

Being 9-2 out of conference means taking care of business at home versus the cupcakes (can’t have another stonyford)

We will need to be that 9-2 to have a decent chance at an above 500 season.

The Gavitt games and The BIG_ACC Challenge are 2 different events. Each team was supposed to play at home and than away when they were involved in each event. They are separate. We have played @ Clemson, home to Wake Forest, @ Miami and home to Florida State in the BIG-ACC Challenge. We have alternated the last 4 years. Teams were also supposedly going to be paired off with a team comparable to themselves. That did not happen the last 2 years as Miami and Florida State were both ranked when we played them and we were in the basement of the BIG. We really should get Pitt this coming season on the road but I am guessing we might be sent to Boston College. It seems to me as if they always try to get the ACC a better chance for a win.

As for the Gavitt games only 8 of 10 Big East games participate each year and only 8 of 14 BIG teams are involved. We got the shaft playing 2 years in a row on the road going to St. John's in Nov 2015 & to Depaul in Nov of 2016. Last year we were not in the event. We should be home in the GAVITT games this coming season. I think we get Georgetown because we have already played St. Johns and Depaul. Maybe Marquette could come to RU. That might be another possibility.

that smells like 7-4....

7-4 5-15 1-1 13-20?

obviously silly to even guess when we are missing so many details

Exactly ...let me see the roster in September, especially if sanders returns or not

But we will be likely playing 23 games out of 31 against power 5 teams. That’s a significant schedule

Both UMASS and Fordham are young. Last year we would be a pick em in UMASS and 8 point favorite in Fordham.

unfortunately they will both be drags on the sos....at 299 Fordham is Q4 home or away...UMass at 239 barely qualifies as Q3 and is a Q4 away. So unless both schools have major upgrades the following year they will also drag down the rpis. These are examples of two schools that RU needs to push off the schedule...

some example of schools RU needs more of in the future

St Joes
Temple
UConn
Hofstra
William & Mary
Wagner
Rider
Old Dominion
Hofstra

from major conferences

BC
Syracuse
St Johns
Georgetown
most Pac 12 schools

I think RU can get involved in these matchups by playing in tourneys...hopefully Hobbs is working with Pike to make this happen soon..as we go forward out of the darkness, its imperative we start playing ooc schedules that are national.

I know that things change from season to season but you want to schedule better lower and midmajor conference schools still within that 150 range and avoid more than one or two schools over 200 like the plague.

We are still in survival mode. Scratch 13-15 wins any way you can. Year 3 you can’t put up a 9-11 win season.

Getting some early road games against weaker opponents is at least a step forward from playing only home games against weaker opponents. At this point, they need to get some road wins just to know how that feels.
