What is the split in terms of first team QB practice reps?

More specifically, what % of first team reps is Oden getting? Is he getting a good chunk? Is he getting anything at all?

We don't seem to have much faith in Laviano. Ash is pretty clearly saying he'd rather Oden be in the game, but he is not ready. So what steps are we currently taking to get him ready?

Or are we in any way preparing Gio, or Allen to take significant snaps in a game at any point in the future.

Actually, Ash says Oden is "a long way from ready". He's emphasized this several times in press conferences, even repeating it a couple times with emphasis on "long".

Oden does get reps with the first team and has been for weeks, at least. Don't know about Allen or Gio.

I'm kind of curious why you want to know those sorts of details about practice. What will you do with that information?

It's called being a fan, short for fanatic. You admittedly do not let RU football outcomes affect you, so the minutiae of practice does not interest you.
Personally, I cant get enough of it...sad life I live, I know.:D

I thought someone said Allen was getting half the reps with first string this week.

I am very interested in the minutiae of practice too. But my motivation is intellectual curiosity whereas I think many people ask such questions as a form of passive-aggressive criticism.

Don't confuse the fact that I don't dwell on negatives over which I have no control w/a lack of interest. Totally different things. I am very interested in all aspects of RU football.

This is awesome. If we can't get the coach to put in a different QB, let's get information that allows us to harass him about whether he's playing the twig-like QB enough with the first team in practice.

How's this, instead: we have a weak starting QB and an either weak or not-ready group of back-ups. No amount of fan-micromanagement of back-up QBs in game or in practice will help. What's next? Questions on whether the staff is properly enforcing dietary rules intended to increase Oden's weight?

From last I saw it was Laviano getting 1st team with Allen/ oden on 2nd. But most of the media only get to see part of the practice so they're not even 100% sure

Man who turned up the sensitivity in this joint?

Fans can't even wonder about QB practice reps because of possible passive aggressive motivation?

Here is what I know about the situation.

Ash says Oden would be starting if he was ready.

Here is what I would like to know.

What is Ash doing to get Oden ready to start?

Where is the conspiracy?

Rutgers football needs more fans who live and breath Rutgers football.

It's a good thing.

The overly analytical types? Meh. Dudes don't know that making noise at sporting events is a good thing.

Who said anything about a conspiracy? Seems to me you're the one being overly sensitive.

In any given practice, Oden is getting some number of reps. Might be with the first team, might be with the 2s, whatever. What Ash and Mehringer are doing to get him ready might vary day to day depending on any number of factors. It might vary depending on the opponent, or on if the upcoming game is home or away. It might vary depending on offensive schemes DM wants to employ in the upcoming game. Might vary depending on how well other QBs are doing.

My question remains. Given a detailed answer to what you want to know, what will you do with the answer? Or are you just curious? Seems like a simple question to me so I'm not sure why you can't answer it.

What would I do with the info? Probably come up with an opinion. Like I'd probably be happy if they were giving Oden a good chunk of 1st team practice reps. And frustrated if they weren't.

And now that you know this, what will you do with this information?

With that information, I am wondering why you'd be frustrated by something over which you have no control and for which you lack all kinds of relevant information and aren't as qualified as the coaching staff to judge anyway.

I totally get wanting to know because it's kind of cool to learn about how a college team operates and how this particular professional coach coaches.

What I don't get is being frustrated by the staff not doing what you, with all your years of D1 college coaching experience, thinks is best.

Ash has no control over the fan base, yet he proclaims "if we don't sell out, we're in big trouble in the future"

He really should be worrying about getting his team ready, don't you think.

Because the three seconds it took him to say something to encourage the fans to show up and be loud is going to greatly influence how ready the team is?

Seriously?

I have zero control of Rutgers football. Yet when they score a TD I'm excited. When they lose a game I'm frustrated. Why? It's called being a fan. And part of being a fan is knowing what is going on. It starts with the basics of the game, then maybe the names of the players, understanding who is good and who isn't. Then maybe you get more involved and understand different types of offenses or defenses. Then maybe you get into recruiting, and there are even some recruits who you might think are better then there rankings.

And then when you go to games, you make noise, yell defense a bunch of times, become in a small way a part of the action(aight have to correct my opening sentence). Talk about it with your buds. Talk about it with people you don't know while on the bus back to the RAC. Come back to the message board and post your thoughts.

I could go on, but this is basic fandom stuff here. As is critiquing of the coaches, it's just part of the process. So can we get back to it?

Holy Shite, you are a lawyer.
It only takes three seconds to ask about QB reps.
He didn't encourage anyone to show up, he said if it's not a full house this program is in trouble in the future…hardly encouraging and pure BS.

By all means, carry on. :)

Thanks bud.

I'll re ask the question, but with a bit more detail in my thought process.

It appears to me Ash and staff have no faith in Laviano.

They have said Oden would be in there if he were ready.

Oden is getting into games now. But with a very limited playbook.

Now if Oden is not getting very many 1st team practice reps the above doesn't add up imo.

But I don't know if he is or isn't.

So does anyone know if Oden is getting 1st team practice reps?
