Basically a pro style QB, but certainly not immobile or slow afoot, does he opt for a pro style offense?

His first choice should be Yale then Pennsylvania beyond that is a downgrade in educational advantage,
If he has those offers then by all means that is what he should take. He will have fun playing FB.If he is outstanding the NFL will find him. If not, he will be set for life with of those degrees.

Practically no one does.

DeVito played at a HS that travels the nation, and plays one of the best High school schedules. Has spent a lot on training, special coaches etc. You would think a kid and his family like this would want to play on a big stage (P5 conference, Bowl games etc). At Yale, as great a school as it is, he will play at smaller crowds than at his High School, and never play in a Bowl game during his college career.

Great swimmers, fencers, Olympic sports athletes often go IVY. Elite Football and Basketball players usually go to a Power Conference team.

If he were a B10 quality starter, then he would absolutely be a legend in the Ivy League.

Not necessarily, was Fitzpatrick , the Jets starter, a legend at Harvard ? There a a few IVY players now in the NFL, how many were 'legends' ? Obviously if he's good enough for the NFL he could have played in the Big 10. Yet few , other than NFL draft followers, knew much about him. Most HS players good enough for D1 and with great grades , usually ,not always, still go D1 , but to a D1 w good academics, eg Big 10, Stanford, Duke, Vandy etc etc.

Delusional Syracuse Alum seems redundant!!
Good one!

Fitzpatrick was a legend at Harvard. He ranks second on Harvard's career list for pass completions, touchdowns, yards passing and pass completion percentage.

You're missing the point, lol, but it's no big deal. DeVito lives in my little town of Cedar Grove. He could have stayed here, been a legend here in Cedar Grove, and still get a D1 offer. Instead he decided to go to a much higher profile HS, Don Bosco, w more and better coaching and better facilities to play the best schedule possible. And the academics of Bosco played a small part.

The same analogy can be made for his College choice. He will decide between 2 or 3 P5 schools, to play against great competition, on a national stage ( TV !), with better coaching, and probably better facilities.

PS- little Cedar Grove has a good football program, put about 5 or 6 kids in D1 in last 5 years or so, and more in D2. His family still decided to go the Big Time HS route, just like they will for College.

PPS- Very few football fans heard of Fitzpatrick outside of Harvard. Star QBs of P5 team are known by football fans across the country.

I heard Devito interviewed on the radio. He visited Syracuse during Final 4 weekend, and will make a decision within two weeks. As the other linked article said, he will not say who his favorites are

The Njokus did fine at Cedar Grove. It's hardly s garbage dump program like, say, Verona.

Fat Cat referred to having interest at Rutgers, but he's looking to commit soon. The article claim no commits this month. So maybe he is head upstate NY.

LOL ! That's down right mean ! lol. Hey Anthony Fasano did OK at ND and nice NFL career , Carlo Calabrese also did OK at Notre Dame, and WR Nick De Palma played some Pro Football as well, all recently . Neighboring Verona and Cedar Grove are almost 'twin towns', a nice little rivalry. If these 2 sports mad little towns merged their schools, it would be a very strong Group 3 or 4. West Essex HS ( Fairfield, North Caldwell and Roseland) a pretty good Group 3.

PS- did you this past year's QB for Cedar Grove, Nick Zecchinno, got a D1 schollie to UConn to be a ... Long Snapper ! UConn Head Coach Bob Diaco also a Cedar Grove grad/alum. Also recently Drew Evangelista was the starting Punter for Towson that played in the FCS Championship game.

Now that the dumb Cedar Grove BOE pushed out legendary Head Coach Ed 'Special Ed' Sadloch, I expect CG to falter a bit. I wonder if Njoku will even come back for his senior year or follow Sadloch to St Peters Prep or even join fellow Cedar Grover Tommy DeVito at Bosco. That would one heck of a QB-WR tandem.

Any one that turns down an IVY to go elsewhere is doing the correct thing. It just proves that he was too stupid not to have seen his future laid out for him as a graduate and would never have cut it at Yale,Penn etc.

But hardly anyone goes the Ivy route when they have P5 options.

Why would we want a pro-style QB?
Is it a big deal if he goes elsewhere? Don't we have offers out to dual threat QBs that better fit our system? No disrespect intended for Tommy Deviito--but I don't want to see a bunch of butthurt and self-loathing posts about how we lost out to Syracuse or some other school should he choose to go elsewhere.

And? It's a veer and shoot offense, wtf is that? There is a vertical passing component, and I did not read close enough to see if a pro-style or dual threat QB is better suited for veer and shoot, but my quick read was that it would probably be better suited to a dual thread QB.

Read closer , you don't need to be very athletic to run this offense or the Ohio St/ Houston /JMU offense. IF a QB has tremendous athleticism AND a great arm, and good ability to run that offense than GREAT , but those guys are few and far between. Devito would have been fine here at RU, but RU did not press for his commitment for whatever reason (probably they just prefer Lewis).

Uhm, we're not talking about a 3-star, let alone 4-star QB here, right? If you're a 2-star, and you can go to Yale, you damn well do it IF that's what you want.
