Whoever decided to bring back the doubleheaders?

Dang...Cheryl Cop?!

I would have guessed YOU of all posters would have been to more!

image shattered

Season tickets for football and basketball since 1983 driving about 80 minutes or so each way. I guess I am not much of a Rutgers sports fan .lol I actually had season tickets for a couple years when Regina Howard and Sue Wicks we’re here. Plus a couple for wrestling.

Wicks and Howard were of my era...they graduated in 87 and 88...I hope you enjoy the game! ...and iew...don’t call them lady knights...[sick]

Yup, I call them Lady Knights. Others don’t. That is fine.—There is a school going Division 1 and joining the WAC called Tarleton State. Their teams are called the Texans and the TexAnns. And no I did not make that up. lol

I would also like to see a basketball/ volleyball doubleheader from time to time. Just my opinion.

I think stringer officially ended Lady Knights when she came in...at least the media stopped calling them that...very few lady teams remain, thankfully...with the huge notable exception of the Lady Vols...but their AD is split with a male and female AD so they each run their fiefdoms...even colors for Tennessee women are different than the men

I'm not sure that your Tennessee info is up to date, although it was true at one time. A few years ago they tried to change the name of all their female teams to "Volunteers" EXCEPT Women's Basketball (a brand all its own), it was related to a change of apparel / sneaker supplier and an attempt I suppose to move with the times, as well as consolidate the Tennessee "brand". It didn't go well, and I am pretty sure that the softball team returned to being the Lady Vols after a few years.

While "Lady" has faded, especially at the larger schools, it certainly isn't gone yet.

I don’t say lady knights but definitely affectionately call them “the ladies” like Cmon ladies!! Or “are the ladies playing tonight” .. just out of love, tradition and respect

softball for sure goes as LV...they are still two ADs in one as I said to include different color schemes...which always seemed dumb to me

FYI...Sue Wicks! Still the scoring queen at RU 31 years after graduating! God she was a “joy” to watch!

see what I did there?

The Wicks and Sticks show. Remember them fondly. Was there when Sue scored her 2,000 point and Regina scored her 1,000th in the same game. Good times!

I was at Wicks first game her freshmen year and watched many double headers years before she got there when they were called 'The Lady Knights'.
So I actually saw her first 2 points and her 2000th.

I always call them “the ladies”, and similarly say “the men”

Went to a lot of mens/womens bball doubleheaders during my time at RU. Especially memorable was the pair of games against UCLA at the Meadowlands. Good times!

I was there. If you told me then what the next decades would turn into, I never would have believed you. Stupid decision after stupid decision by the Athletic Director.

I hate the doubleheader’s as it sucks for me to keep the aide for my wife. I had to miss the last 10 minutes of the men’s game. If my circumstances were different they would be fine.

Yeah I'm another one of those early 80's people. I loved the double header then AND I did the other night. IF Rutgers could EVER figure this out and get a bar/club thing going inside the RAC it would be ASSUME BABY!

But I doubt it and this was most likely a scheduling thing that feel into their dumba$$ laps.

My personal favorite (and the one "Ladies" nickname I wouldn't change) is Centenary College, which calls its men's teams the "Gentlemen" and its women's teams the "Ladies."

Wasn't one of the games before Missouri played Virginia mens with Steve Stipanovich vs. Ralph Sampson; I had front row seats to that game

Not sure what you mean? Were there games the same day before the RU doubleheader - I don't recall, only went to the RU games. I thought they were the first college bball games at the Meadowlands but could be wrong about that.

Yeah that game was at the Meadowlands I looked it up our women played Virginia in the opening game in February of 1983
