Why did MSU go for 2 points? I don't understand.

Yes, good call.
The Sparty Defense has shown they can stop OSU .

He probably didn't like their chances in Overtime so you go for the win right there.
But it wouldn't give him the win. It'd give OSU 4 minutes and two time outs and only needing a field goal. Had their been 1 minute left, maybe I could see it. But it basically gave the game away.

It also made MSU desperate to get a score and they played like it, throwing a bad INT at the end. If it was a tie game MSU could take their time on that last drive and maybe win or take their chances in overtime.

I think MSU did not want to spoil OSU's chances to be in the championship.

I'm ok with criticizing the decision, but the bolder part is flat out ridiculous.

My only issue with the call is that they had a real tough time throwing the ball all day and 3 yards it needed to be a pass play. That said, I understand the call. I doubt MSU goes for 2 if they were vying for a potential B1G championship, but at 3-7 I get the call.

I know that this is conventional wisdom, but I don't get that logic at all. You play to win the game, regardless of whether you are 10-0, 0-10, or anywhere in between. If you think kicking the point gives you the best chance to win, then you do that. If you think going for two gives you the best chance to win, then you do that. Nothing else should enter into the analysis.

So then you would say that we shouldn't take more risk in our game plan tonight against PSU bc we have nothing to lose? I get that you want to win, but I don't think it's uncommon to coach a bit differently when you have nothing to lose from a big picture standpoint and I certainly hope with play a bit more reckless tonight.
