Why don't we light up our treasured architecture at night?

The one thing I noticed when I visited PSU was that they have lights on Old Main and their library at night which looks great. Why doesn't Rutgers have spotlights on Old Queens, the rest of Queens campus or Bishop House? I also noticed the Honors College doesn't have lights on their clock tower at night. It looks odd that the J&J building lights up their cupola, while Rutgers doesn't light up their honors college tower.

I think it's a simple thing that could really enhance the facade of the campus at night.

I don't buy that explanation. We're not that poor.

There are so many simple small things Rutgers can do to make their campus more attractive but they don't seem to be doing it. I'm pretty sure clock towers are supposed to have lights on them so you can see the clock at night.

It was not lit last night. I noticed as I left along route 18. Maybe they turn the lights out at a certain time? I left campus around 12:45.

Rutgers is poor. We need that Home Depot guy to come across with $100 Mil and name the whole CA campus after him. But sadly, I have heard he hates his alma mater. I think the PR department has made some progress, but many of NJ citizens also have a poor or ambivalent regard for their flagship u.

The Douglass Student Center always has lights on.

Old Queens isn't THAT nice of a building, especially with all the air conditioners hanging out its windows.

Bishop house lights would hopefully not be too bright, since it's surrounded by dorms.

The window units look so stupid. I understand it would cost a fortune to refit the building for central air but at least take the window units out during late Fall/Winter. It's these little cheapo things Rutgers does that is a microcosm of the university.

the clock itself is back lit by LED's. the tower is not lit and probably should be..

Another (relatively) cheap enhancement would be to paint the cupolas on Old Queens and Murray Hall. With the Nov 10 anniversary celebration next month, we need to do this ASAP!

I did not see the clock lit either the night after the game. I don't know if it was just because it turns off at a certain time or not. I haven't seen it since. Maybe a current student could weigh in on this.

I haven't noticed, but I'll keep an eye on it next time I'm on College ave at night.
