To all my of my fellow long suffering Scarlet Knight fans I don't see anything changing for Rutgers football any time soon. Yes they can fire Flood, his staff, Herman and Barchi can retire, but nothing will change. For the record it's not because we are in a pro sports market. Heck Michigan has teams in Detroit in every pro sport, plus Michigan State and Eastern Michigan just down the road. It's not do to NJ apathy or proximity to NY.
I have been a donor and season's ticket holder for 40 years and going to games since 1967. (Not an alumni) The problem is quite simple. Many of us want to compete in athletics at a level commensurate to being the State University. Unfortunately, there are still way too many that want us back playing Princeton, Lehigh, Laffayette, Colgate and Columbia. They still think Rutgers belongs in the Ivy league and a lot of those folks are in high positions. They don't see the benefit of being part of the B1G. Benefits that go way beyond athletics. They didn't notice the increase in applicants that follwed the publicity of a few successful Football seasons.
I could go on, but I'll end with a BIG GO Rutgers and leave it there,
You can't have it both ways.
