Why is it OK for Politi to tweet things like this?

Talk about a double standard, he should be fired.


A fan presents an innocent challenge in response to alledged RU fan treatment of PSU fans.



Politi responds in kind, but then the rag rips RU fans for weeks about making jokes....I pressed him on this and there result? Blocked me.....

How is it acceptable for a newspaper writer to call PSU "Ped State" standing for Pedophile State?

I hope some of you will write to our Penn State conference brethren showing them this and how a newspaper reporter obviously stepped over the line.

This is serious offense and certainly calls into question his judgment and whether he stereotypes consistently and whether he is also a racist or a homophobe or mysoginist. It's not unusual for people who so casually use terms like that on twitter to have broader issues. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a pattern.

I think this could wind up with his twitter account being investigated internally by the star ledger and could wind up with a range of remedies from the need to issue an apology to a formal reprimand to suspension to termination of his job.
 
Definitely out of line by Politi- should be reprimanded/suspended and offer a public apology.
 
I raised this in a comment section of ledger article criticizing RU fans for their behavior when they basically forced Julie to apologize......they deleted my comments. Targum, raised a paragraph in an article, but the double standard was ignored.

Maybe send this to PSU president and press team and they can ban SL from the locker room. He was challenged by multiple RU fans, but just ignored the complaints.

Amazing how they can critcize RU, but make jokes themselves.

Am I missing the sarcasm in the OP or is the OP missing the sarcasm in Politi's post?

Do you not think that him saying he'll need a Ped State shirt is him taking a jab on the incessant PSU bashing that goes on here? (rightfully so, but to an outsider it does look a little much)

Politi could fall off the roof of the Hale Center as far as I'm concerned. But I read that Tweet as a sarcastic jab as what goes on here.

Am I missing something in the context of this thread?

Didn't realize this was a year old.
In the context of what was going on at the time, this was sarcasm.

I still stand by the "no clicks for a$$holes" position though.

+1 He is saying that to dress like a Rutgers fan, he would need to wear the inappropriate t-shirt which many RU fans wore during the PSU game last year. It is not a joke, it is a shot at the class of Rutgers fans.

When Julie makes a quip about the SL bankruptcy it's read literal. But let's get the context guide for politi.

Politi has always used his Twitter account as an extension of his pathological idiocy - and if you call him out on it, he blocks you.

The guy is an asshole. He doesn't have a single redeeming quality. By paying any attention to him, at all, you give him exactly what he wants.
 
The guy is a hack why are people surprised. This tweet is also from a year ago. When will this board learn that they are the ones keeping him present. If no one on this board talks about him he has zero following. He is not a celebrity or an authority of any kind. Stop talking about him and giving him clicks and he will wither away.

Not right now......... There should be an investigation to see if there was more to this then just this one tweet.....was there a pattern to this behavior?.....

During the investigation, all those in charge of it should remain silent.......do not allow politi to comment about it, but occasionally leak out a negative blurb here and there

In today's society, people have been castigated for much, much less.

You do realize we have ACTUAL comedians making actual jokes in an actual comedy setting and THEY need to issue apologies all the time. SL is not a comedian, this was not a joke in a night club.

He needs to get dragged through the mud. He should be used to it, he's the one usually doing the dragging.

Stop following him on twitter, stop clicking on his articles, and maybe he will get fired. Continue to follow and click, and you simply feed the troll.
 
I see the other CUB reporter at the SL is reporting that the "investigation" might last until next week.

And I'm not defending the guy. I'm saying that OP's "take" on the tweet, is off.

Plus, it was established quite clearly that it was a dig at RU fans when it was originally tweeted a year ago. There was an NJ.com comments exchange with Politi to that very point.

which is another internet phenomena that confounds me.

What is so hard about finding some "smoking gun" on the internet and, you know, actually looking at the time stamp on when it was written?

This thread will surely have a few hundred replies about a Tweet that is a year old.
