Again i would not fire Flood this year for many reasons - but lets move on to something more constructive. We have an offensive coach now - and it is more explosive under Flood (despite Nova's weaknesses -which was primarily attributable to Schiano not redshirting him). Schiano, like most defensive coaches, would have put his best athletes on the defensive side and thus would likely have had more depth to address the recent suspensions. So for example, Hicks likely would have been moved to db/safety permanently - along with some other offensive players. We see this with many other coaches on the collegiate level - the latest casualty is Muschamp at Florida - the offense was absolutely horrible. Back to Rutgers - no doubt the defense would be better under Schiano - the question is how many good athletes would have been left on the offensive side of the ball? Would the offense be explosive enough to hang with MSU, WSU, Indiana? Not sure. Perhaps Grant and Patton would have been groomed on the defensive side of the ball leaving only Carroo, Aguadosa (sp?) and two unproven freshman as the valid receivers. This is the tug of war i that offensive and defensive minded coaches have to address successfully. Curious about other's thoughts - an offensive minded coach is likely to lead to a weaker defense (which is our current status - but i don't know why people are surprised that they can't overcome the suspension of their secondary).
