too early to tell, way too much has to occur, but when I look at the schedule, the maryland game might be a make or break game for bowl eligibility, optimistically we could be 5-6 heading into this game
and with all the previous talk comparing head coaches and staffs between the two programs, it could be interesting

Absolutely .
With this new staff six wins is the bottom.
Nothing but upside next season.

not a chance, zero, zip, nada, nil. Nick Saban could not coach the returning and incoming talent to a bowl. And I''m not a negatoid.

Let's just say our improvement may not show up in wins.
I'm willing to bet our team next year would beat Floods team this year, even with Carroo.
Hard to collect on that bet...lol:D

I agree. I expect team play to be better , but that will not translate into more wins. I think they will finish with the same record as this year.

I'm expecting things to get worse before they get better. I see 3-4 wins next year. Too many uncertainties and Ash is a coach, not a miracle-worker.

No bowl in '16-I think some people are expecting miracles from this coaching staff. At best if all works out this is going to take time - several years. This is not a Michigan Harbaugh situation where he came in to a very talented roster. This team has some glaring holes and we have an inexperienced coaching staff. I have low expectations for this year-there is a definite curve we will have to navigate.

Thinking 3-4 wins next year. Gotta take a step back to go toward. Talent is very thin.

Agreed...... I figure 5 as the ceiling and then the assumption that 5 wins is not a bowl team

6 is the minimum.....New Mexico, Illinois, 1AA opponent, Maryland, Indiana, Penn State are all winnable games. I don't see where RU is a significant underdog in any of these games with better offense and better defense.

I'll say the same thing I did before this year. If we can't find a good QB, by far the most important position on the field, we'll be watching all the bowl games on TV. Laviano isn't the answer, don't know if Rettig is, and don't know if we might have someone else ready.

Anything can happen, but we'll be installing a new offense and a new defense.

If next years bowl situation is the same as this year, we will go 5-7 and be bowling

No. Schedule way too difficult just hope for improvement, all-around, on and off the field.

QB is a very important position, no doubt. But I actually think we'll be okay there. Not great, but serviceable.

I'm more concerned with O line and WRs. And on D, we have to get a lot more production out of the D line. And The linebackers are be a big question mark.

Overall, I think we have a massive lack of depth in pretty much all position groups. If we get some luck, stay relatively healthy, and if Ash can coach up our DBs, we can maybe get to 5 wins. Maybe.

If people expect 3 or 4 wins next year than what about the year after that. Don't we graduate a lot of guys next year. I think just by having a competent head coach and practices that aren't dysfunctional chaos we will be better than last year. I know it's going to take time to implement a new offense but let's face it last year's offensive schemes plain out sucked. Nowhere to go but up there. I have to believe our defense which was ranked 112th in college football will be better. Nowhere to go but up there. Special teams should be relatively the same they were nothing special except for Grant and he's back.

So I don't think a 6-6 record is miracle worker territory here. So yea I think we'll be bowl eligible next year. We've all seen what good coaching can do for a team in college football. I think the bad coaching aspect has become ingrained in many of you over the past four years(understandable). We saw bad play because of lack of technique and discipline. Players constantly out of position, blocking technique horrible(mostly due to scheme), tackling technique. These are all aspects good coaching can fix and I think he will. It can happen at other schools why not here.
