Will The Bubble be okay? *EDIT* IT COLLAPSED :(

Just curious...would Rutgers consider a another Bubble to make other facilities needs? Maybe for one of the non-revenue sports?

Welp, its not okay.

It collapsed :(

"Folks, I was just informed that the Rutgers football practice bubble has collapsed due to snow. The team is scheduled for another 5am workout tomorrow morning so it should be interesting to see to what will happen."

Was told the RU practice bubble came down today as result of snow accumulation, which caused the fabric to tear, resulting in pressure loss

No one was inside the bubble so no injuries. Repairs will begin this week.

So what the engineers said about it handling snow was wrong.

"According to Doug Kokoskie, senior associate athletic director for Rutgers facilities, the bubble is steeper now and it doesn't gather as much snow. As an additional precaution, Rutgers officials can turn up the heat inside to help the snow melt faster off the roof and sides." (From 2015)

Why would they not just deflate it in preparations for the storm? I know the last time there was strong winds they didn't because they said it was difficult and expensive to do it, but wasn't everyone knowing that we could get 2+ feet of snow? Typical Rutgers oversight (or there is just no one to make the decision).

I think the thought process was with the steeper roof, not as much snow would get stuck and it would be able to sustain the snowfall. Obviously if you deflate it then you have 2 feet of snow on top of the bubble that needs to be removed before you can inflate it again--not sure if there's an easy way to make that happen that makes leaving the bubble inflated and risking part of it tearing worthwhile?

If it was ok at 10:21am, this morning, when did it collapse? After that time, with heat on and sun hitting it, with melting, the load should have been decreasing.
