Will the P12 ask the the B12 to merge?

You don't drop AAU affiliation, they drop you. Schools that have lost AAU affiliation did so since they were no longer meeting standards or about to be dropped.

The Pacific Athletic Conference will be no more by Friday. Which is sad, one of the longest-standing conferences. But after getting left out of the playoff a few times, it was destined to failure only because of the system.

Big Ten will only add teams that will make the league more money than they will take. No “filler” teams just because like Kansas. It will be Oregon and Notre Dame, or nobody.

Football-wise, Isnt UCLA a filler team ? If ND joins, isn’t the other addition also a filler team ?

Filler teams can be worth it depending on who they join with. It seems USC wouldn’t join without UCLA.

That BIG12 alignment looks wrong to me.

It makes more sense for Cinncy, WVU, Memphis, UCF and 1 other team to be a quad than have them dispersed

They were in a position of strength last year and the B12 came calling hat in hand and they refused them. I think now it's the other way around and I'm not sure all the PAC12 teams will find a home there if they come asking. One day you're the windshield, next day the bug.

It may not have been the most attractive deal at the time but I think PAC12 admins should have seen something like this possibly coming and really mulled it over. I doubt that they did.

Yes and no. They look like a filler team only because the football team has been mediocre for a long time. But like USC hiring Riley, if they find the right coach, they can be a monster. It really is not all that hard to recruit great football players to Southern Cal. They have a beautiful campus, beautiful women, and their Alumni are power brokers in LA.

Reports are that Big 12 is meeting tomorrow to possibly invite Arizona / Arizona State / Utah and Colorado. If so , that would leave 6 schools in Pac 12 with USC and UCLA departing. Things are moving fast! It’s 10 pm 4 - does anyone know where Notre Dame is?

"does anyone know where Notre Dame is?"
in the drivers seat most likely and won't trade their independently driven Rolls -Royce
in for anything less than a Lamborghini if they join a conference.

Part of the allure of Notre Dame football is being independent and joining a conference might have the Irish lose some of it's uniqueness costing it the unattached football fans that might just feel they are just another conference member instead of a program that remains one that makes its own decisions and not tied down by conference rules.
Also collage football fans all across the nation might start thinking Notre Dame sold their independence for the money and feel less likly to root for them than the program representing the state they live in, expecialy if that program is in the conference the imitation Irish join

UConn should just look to The Patriot. lmfao. Who wants them at this point, and it couldn't happen to a better fanbase.

Wow - this guy put a lot of data together for that analysis. It is long, but a good read for anyone interested. Cliffs: Notre Dame is the #1 target. Predicts B1G will got to 20 teams initially (adding ND/Oregon), Stanford, Cal, Washington. Eventually goes to 24 teams when ACC GOR expires with UVA, UNC, Duke and ND/Oregon.

Interesting - and potentially an excellent move for the Big 12. Solid markets and adds an additional time zone (beyond BYU). This dovetails with the B1G taking three or four more west coast schools, leaving out Wazzou and Oregon State. Those two (plus maybe Oregon or Cal) will find nice (though relatively shabbier) homes in the MWC.

"Multiple reports from around the country are citing the Big 12 Conference will meet with four Pac 12 Conference teams, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of joining the Big 12. "

"There is also an indication both the SEC and Big Ten are looking to expand to 20 members, further causing anxiety among fans and administrators alike. "

Ouch. That stings, but its hard to argue against.
I'm sure the Clemson and FSU ADs are saying the same thing.

The B1G or SEC will always take ND. They might just wait and see how some of this falls out regarding expansion and the playoffs before they do anything. It’s a shame that their decision is potentially destroying other programs and leagues while they take they time…but it certainly doesn’t surprise me. They’ve always done “obnoxious” very well.

Who know if what he put together will play out, but from a research and presentation standpoint, his logic makes reasonable sense all the way around from revenue, athletics and academic viewpoint. I commend him for something that is better than any mouthpiece on the radio or TV.

I find one thing of interest and that is whether the end game is 24. If that is the case, I think BIG should not be reactive this time to the SEC but rather go on the offensive to get pieces in place. Locking up the entire West Coast could strategically lock in the SEC to the Southeast.

And yes, UConn Football to Patriot makes the most sense. Same for UMass. Syracuse and BC can join them when the ACC implodes 😁
