William Paterson men's basketball team walks off court

He's a GREAT guy, it's crazy. He should have left and became a college assistant.

I've interviewed Jose on a number of occasions back when I was writing for local weekly papers for the Record. Guy was very classy, and always pleasant to talk to. Unreal that Paterson State College would let him go.

I hope he finds a great landing spot. I'll always remember him for pulling Horace Jenkins off of the street and sending a DIII player to the pros. Very disappointing on Paterson State's end.

Some of the old dogs around here like me will recall a student demonstration at the RAC (1995?) that cut short a great effort by Rutgers just before the start of the second half in front of a rare sellout crowd against a terrific UMass team (#4 in the country). All of us have forgotten the reason for the student demonstration, but remember Rutgers chance for a huge upset go out the window.

Paterson State ended in 1971. Just sayin.

I remember it. It had something to do with the RU president's comments. A girl sat at half court and everyone was afraid to do anything
And most importantly, Marcus Camby wasn't playing. Then when we restarted the game weeks later, he was allowed to play and all we got was two technical FT's...so bush. The yellow jackets really blew it that night. I was so pissed.
And yes it was Fran Lawrence's comments that minorities were genetically predisposed to score lower on standardized testing.

Lawrence was an ass.

I was super psyched when they showed it on MTV news with Kurt Loder and it showed me, my Dad and Uncle with a "WTF: look on our face.

The second half of that game was played in Philadelphia at the Spectrum in front of about 100 people. I was there.
