This is a really important game for the ladies, as the final four games thereafter come against opponents in the RPI Top 25 (No. 6 Northwestern, No. 16 Maryland, No. 21 Michigan and No. 23 USC).

Rutgers is still in the NCAA hunt, so winning this game against a 4-7 (2-2) Penn State team is a must. However, it won't be easy, as PSU just beat #10 Michigan 13-12 in OT on the road.

PSU outplaying Rutgers, plain and simple. 9-4 in draw controls, and their zone defense is giving Rutgers problems, and when we do get shots, their GK is stoning us with 7 saves.

Rutgers fell behind 12-6 after a bad 3rd quarter, but then went on a 4-0 run to close to 12-10 with 3 minutes left, but then couldn’t score.

Too little, too late. Rutgers loses 12-10.

Story of the game was Penn State winning the draw control battle 17-9, giving them 8 more possessions than Rutgers.

Rutgers is now 0-12 in away games in State College.

Rutgers falls to 8-5 (2-2) with four RPI top 25 opponents coming up in the final four regular season games. They went down fighting tonight, but this was very disappointing nonetheless. Sigh.

I watched the first half. Seemed like Rutgers had a chance to take control early in the game. Had some good shots, was causing some turnovers. But PSU goalie made some great saves.
