Women’s Lacrosse Opened Big Ten Tournament with No. 7 Maryland Wednesday

Alright!!! The women’s team finished 7th out of 9 teams and got the last tourney spot!!!

Woo-hoo!!!!!

Rutgers played a pretty good game here. The final score is not indicative of how competitive this game was. MD pulled away in the 4th quarter, but this was an 8-7 game midway through the 3rd quarter. Rutgers had TWO consecutive 2-minute emo opportunities -- so 4 minutes with extra player -- but didn't score in either, and then MD scored on the next even possession to go up 9-7. That was a HUGE swing moment, and things went south from there.

This team actually shows some promise, as most of the top scorers were freshmen. If Melissa Lehman can keep everybody, this team could be an upper half of Big Ten team next year.

Yes very young team but I think in lacrosse versus other sports easier to keep the team together so lets hope we can take that leap next year
PS I watched that dangerous propelling call in the previous Md game last week; That may have been one of the worst calls I have ever seen and one of the best Oscars by the MD defender
I'd also like to see one stud grad transfer in on offense or midfield next year that would although we do lose the GK who was awesome this year so we need to replace her
