Once again we came out flat & out of sync., this time against 3-8-0 Purdue. Thanks to Alana Jimenez it was 0-0 at the half. We came out much stronger in the 2nd, though they scored 1st on an RU breakdown. We tied it when Tiernan broke down the left side & crossed a perfect ball for Ciarrocca in the box, who put it home. Once again Jimenez with BIG stops. We again came out strong in OT, & in the 9th minute brought it down the right side, crossed it, an RU header, a touch by Whitley, rebound & pounced on & hammered home by Tiernan.

Tiernan is an absolute horse, real good speed, tough, highly skilled, great soccer sense[see's the field & the play], comes back & is a great defender, excellent scorer with both feet & a rocket of a shot & she is relentless. Last night she didn't try to force it & took maybe one shot from distance without a great look. After her game winner she was absolutely spent, left it all an the pitch. Ciarrocca is good around the frame, calm, cool & a good finisher. Alana Jimenez was absolutely brilliant. Had half a dozen saves & all but maybe one were on tough high quality chances. Her best game by far, better than any of Casey Murphy's in that regard, who never had to face that many quality chances in a game.

Purdue played very well & their goalie Jordan Ginther had an outstanding game as well, with several outstanding saves, including one dandy diving to the left post on a Nicole Whitley PK. We need to come out hard every game right off the squat. This is a tough League. We are now 9-2-2 & 4-1-1 in the BIG. On to Indiana this Sunday at 1pm. It's on BTN Plus. Go RU.

Thanks. I enjoy reading your take on things. I agree on Jimenez...several excellent saves kept us in the game. So nice to see her and the freshman taking advantage of the opportunities being given to them. Hopefully they will really gel come tournament time.

IMHO - when you're on the road, for these 2-game trips, a 1st game win is HUGE no matter who you play, how flat you come out, or how bad you look. Now you get 2 full days off and a quick trip to Bloomington. Get the W there and move up in the standings hopefully (PSU/Maryland and Michigan/NW also on Sunday). Guess we want NW to win that game.

Nuts, we played Purdue at home, if that's what your referencing. We do go to Bloomington. Go RU.

Really hope the Women make the Final 4 in San Jose. Would be great to see them live out here!
