Would Schiano take OHIO STATE DC position?

Absolutely not.

He'll sit in South Florida and collect his 1.7mm annually from Tampa Bay until he gets a HC gig.

Why can't people just let him be?of he gets another job that's great for him. If not, why keep rubbing it in?

Do some here actually feel better about themselves when Schiano isn't hired for a job?

Don't think that is it for some folks. Obviously, a lot of people thought he was going to be our coach, and genuinely want to see him succeed. He may have overplayed his hand this year. It's a shame, because that UCF spot would have been an ideal place for him to build up his resume, which is a little dinged up after Tampa Bay. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward in life. Hope Greg realizes that and succeeds.

The reality is that we need to move on. It is clear that Greg has. We are way more attached to him than he is to Rutgers. That is the nature of coaching. I am sure he made many lifelong friends here and what he accomplished here allowed him to pursue his profession at the highest level. But most coaches do not spend their whole career at one stop and GS is no exception. One day in the future we can bring him back at halftime and honor him for what he meant to Rutgers football, but for now, we need to move on, and so does he. This is Greg Schiano, not Bear Bryant.

I would think that he may be difficult to work with at this point. It is one thing to be working your way up the coaching ladder and being under people and then have to go back to it after you fall from grace.
I know plenty have been able to do it successfully, but I don't think it is in GS's DNA to go back to second fiddle.
As for Rutgers, I think you have heard the absolute last of him here.

We should all respect the fact that it's hard work to Win here. It takes extra effort to convince kids like Anthony Davis and Zuttah to choose Rutgers over Ohio State.

For that reason, I think he wants a plum head coaching job, with a school that sells itself. This way he doesn't have to work as hard, convincing recruits.
Miami was the perfect opportunity for him, and he got beat out because Georgia fired their coach. Miami generally gets the pick of the litter, especially in South Florida. They are what you would call a selector school.

At Rutgers, we generally have to go after secondary and tertiary choices, as our primary choices from New Jersey, are inclined to go elsewhere. So Florida has become integral to our recruiting. It's hard work to turn over every rock to find recruits, which most fans don't appreciate. Schiano did it for 11 years, and did a great job. So naturally, he feels he is at a level where he prefers not to do that anymore, especially after having coached in the NFL.

I think his next job is either DC in the NFL, or DC at a selector school like tOSU, which would position him for the head job at a selector school like OSU, Miami, TX, etc.

It's time for us to move on.

GS will not take a coordinators job in college. In the NFL, yes. Maybe the Dolphins.

Dolphins look like his best possible situation. But if he doesn't land an NFL DC job, he'll be forced to take a college job.

Who cares already. RU and Greg broke up years ago. It's done. He's nothing special, move on.

Some of you must be enormously obsessed with your x-gfs from high school. Move one already. Can't wait to read another schiano post in two hours.

This is a Rutgers Football board. GS was a coach here for several years and did good things. I'm glad this board cares about following the course of a ex-coaches career, so when people say who cares and move on, I would just say maybe you're the one that needs to move on because some people are curious.

Hes dead to me now.... a few days ago I would have taken him back with open arms.
And you don't see this as a wee bit melodramatic?

At first I was like

And then I was like

to get him to come back.

But then I was like

I doubt he would take a college DC position this year. More likely he will wait out the NFL for the end of season firings and try to land a HC gig, which seems highly unlikely. Otherwise we will probably go after an NFL DC position. It seems likely that Matt Patricia will get a HC job and I bet that BB would hire GS in a second. Honestly that would be GS' best path back to restablishing his reputation and getting back to being a HC.

+10000000 Enoughhhhhhhh of Schianoooooo.. It was great while it lasted. He did his just dues and he moved on.

Gee, VW Knight. Is that all you can post: "Who cares?"?

Obviously a lot of people do. Doesn't mean we're pining anymore for Schiano. I (we) follow a lot of former Rutgers men/women. Since YOU don't care, why not just go away? Plenty of other posts you can read and comment on.

I don't want to pile on. He did a great deal of good for this program and for that he should be respected. To me the knock is not on Schiano it's on the Administration for not doubling down in a high profile coach when he left. The program was poised to win a BE title instead we go inexperienced and ultra cheap with Flood. Yes, Schiano should take the DC job and start to rebuild his career. JMHO

so much for the immense ego that many on this thread feel Schiano has...

There's a lot of wrong people in this thread
