Wrestling - BIG10 Pre-seeds are out

Thanks for the link !! Ashnault & Lewis our highest seeds at 3 seed ! AP & Smith 4 seeds. This tourny is a 'Meat Grinder' but great preparation for the Nationals March 17-19. Looking forward to watching as much of this as possible on BTN Plus and finals on regular BTN TV.

I think AA is our best shot at Champion in this tourny.

Just for clarification about 'pre seeds" ;

  • "It's the conference's first pass at seeding the wrestlers for Big Tens. On or around Thursday of this week, the 14 Big Ten wrestling coaches will meet, at Iowa (since that's where the conference tournament is being held), and argue about these pre-seeds. On Friday, the final brackets - with finalized seeds - are released. So...expect some movement from these "pre-seeds", but typically, not a whole lot. You won't see some wrestler pre-seeded 1st fall to 4th, or vice versa. One, maybe two spots is about it - and not a whole lot of that. "

The fact that we have five wrestlers pre-seeded in the top 5 for the B1G tournament, and nine pre-seeded overall, really raises my hopes that we can end up with multiple AA's this year. Very exciting!.

Actually i like when Perrotti is angry underdog...dont forget, Rodrigues was at RU and left after one semester to follow Cooperman Coop only lasted a year at Illinois. Wonder if Rodrigues would have transferred if he had to do it over again? To be a starter he would have needed to change his name to "Anthony". When Pafumi is in, we have 5 Anthonys.

Food for thought...Imagine Earl Hall and Rodrigues staying on the Banks?

Where would they wrestle? While I'm being a bit facetious, I believe Giraldo beat Hall and Ash is better than Rodriguez most times.

I don't think there is much of a difference between the 3 and 4 seed at 165. He still needs to beat a Jordan to get to the finals, and they are damn close in ability. IMO AP probably matches up better with IJo, as BoJo is a bit more funky and in a way similar to AP. So either AP gets to the finals and knocks off both Jordans, or he gets to wrestle Rodriguez which will be a great match.

WNG, did AP and Rodriguez wrestle much in the room when they were both at RU? I'm assuming AP was a couple of weight classes up from him back then, ... so probably no?

I was reading that Micah Jordan, the 1 seed at 141, Redshirted last year and wrestled in Open tournys at 157 !

He cut a lot of weight obviously to get down to 141, and reportedly has almost 0 body fat. He's tall for his weight class obviously, and previously a 4x Ohio St Champ like his brothers. Of course our AA a 4x NJ Champ ! lol
I don't think AA and Micah Jordan have faced each other before. Could see them in a final if AA gets past Thon, which I think (hope) he will.

I think Ashnault will be a much different wrestler this time around when he faces Thorn. There was a point in the season when Ashnault wasn't wrestling very well and I think it may have been due to an injury. If Ashnault is 100 percent I think he's going to make the finals and maybe even win the title. I can't wait to see how this turns out!

I like Perrotti's chances against Isaac Jordan, but not against Bo Jordan. I also believe he'll do well against Rodriguez who I believe has a history of underperforming in big tournaments. Rodriguez is good on his feet with a very slick single and double, but I think Perrotti is better on the mat. Rodriguez has been pinned many times in his career and I think against a dangerous wrestler like Perrotti it can happen again. I see Perrotti taking third place.
