Let me start this by saying I got home from work at 4, read all I could stand about this til 5, then took a 2 mile walk which gave me some time to think.
All of what has happened over the past few weeks have really given my beloved Rutgers a nasty black eye. But all things considered I am still proud to be a supporter of this University. Unlike some schools we care about whether our kids get an actual education instead of offering no show classes so they can stay eligible. And instead of sweeping some 50 arrests in 5 years (or whatever it was) under the carpet and hiding it or issuing useless penalties (clean the stadium) we are proactive in getting rid of them. At least our method won't result in a pedophile running around unchecked on campus for years.
Living in Penn State territory like I do, I know I'll be taking some abuse over the next couple days but I'll just smile and shrug my shoulders, knowing that at least my school is doing it right.
It all sucks right now, but I can at least be proud my school hasn't fallen into the win at all costs mentality that a lot of schools display.
Now all I can do is hope the team pulls together and plays their hearts out for their coach, and that Flood can learn and survive all this and lead the team to new heights over the next decade.
