I was at that game. After intimidating st peters early, you could actually see them picking on him. If he got the ball at the basket it was over, but he really couldn't handle the ball away from the basket and looked pretty clumsy. On offense, the Peacocks took the ball at him and would pull up in the paint for short jumpers which was an effective strategy. We were actually preferring him to be on the floor as st Peter's fans than Williams who is a better basketball player.I still can’t believe they lost to St Peters in the sweet 16
Looks much better to meIt feels like people nationally never saw Edey play until this year. The guy has a track record. He’s ridiculously tall so if he gets the ball at the rim forget it. But how much better can he be than he was last year when he played about 18 minutes a game and split time with Trevion Williams? I sure as hell can’t see him getting 31 and 22 against us. Maybe it’s me but I just don’t worry about big guys anymore. Let him score 31. He’ll have to do it on a lot more possessions than an open Jordan Bohannon would.
Williams was a beast against us at our home gameI was at that game. After intimidating st peters early, you could actually see them picking on him. Even still, Purdue looked all out of whack on offense. I remember watching and thinking St Peters had a good game plan. But them winning also required Purdue to pretty much play their worst offensive game of the year. And with the mismatches they had across they board, it was pretty inexcusable how poor they played. Something about tournament time, those rims look a lot smaller when you’re trailingI was at that game. After intimidating st peters early, you could actually see them picking on him. They live together in perfect harmony.Talk about a clash of styles. Edey and Ivey.
And he's 7'8" with the afro...Is 7-5 for goodness sake.
Ridiculous
He has differently improved his handle and his footwork has improved as I thought he got away with a ton of walks last year. I think the TJD game plan will be pulled out for Edey and Purdue. But need that level of defensive intensity and rotations and close outs to take away threes.Edey has improved but Purdue is also now entirely built around him. Last year they ran stuff for Jaden Ivey and Sasha Stefanovic. Now literally everything is based around Edey.
Geo retweeted this and called Painter an offensive genius. The result is that teams have to try so hard to take these actions away that it opens stuff up for everyone else. They don't run plays for other guys really, they're just all in a position to capitalize when something opens up as a result of an overplay on Edey.
The flip side is we can play a half dozen styles of defense that Purdue can'tWe should just copy these plays for Cliff
Well played. They live together in perfect harmony.
