I view college sports different from pro
pro sports is needed as a distraction to the virus and politics
- pros have resources that the rest of us don't like ability to test every day and be in a bubble. they also have a union and can opt out
- college players are students and most will never go pro. too much risk for a kid to get sick that can affect him / her for life. The student athletes have no union to negotiate for them. They get a cholarship but are not being paid. In many cases them plaing college ball is no different then our kids play youth or hs ball.
if students are not on campus we can't have college sports
only way around it is a bubble where the kids are locked in a hotel and take remote classes. For football with 100 person rosters and the need for specialized large equipment it is not possible. Think about it.... every play has 11 players huddled up and then lineman are on top of each other each play. No social distancing there where in Baseball the only situations are a slide into base or a runner on 1st.
