The current state of college sports sucks, which for me wondering if the NCAA could enforce amateurism as a requirement to play college sports? I understand that they can’t restrict a player’s earnings, but can they say if a player earns over $xx then they are no longer an amateur? If players want to earn money, can’t the NCAA just say that all players are eligible to be professionals and play in professional leagues, but the NCAA is not a professional league. I’d guess that they’d need to work with the professional leagues to make all high school graduates draft eligible, but does the law state that amateurism cannot be a prerequisite for playing college sports?
