GG is afraid of competition

If a player like GG caliber doesn’t see the team working from the inside then of course there’s a problem overall. Team is just not well run on or off the court
exactly if Pike cant convince GG of his potential role than how does he do it to some jonny come lately portal player that has a dozen other offers that does not know Pike from Adam.

Sure Pike will get players to make up a roster but will any of these be the coveted ones that will provide the leadership experience and talent...looks like with the 2 Princeton players we could get the first 2 but the talent part is going to be desperately needed, is RU in with any of the top portal players right now...dont think so

next year is not about the future, its about a one year run with ONCE IN A LIFETIME PLAYERS...which means you have one shot to win and you have to load as much talent as you can you only got one shot do not lose your chance to blow this opportunity comes once in a lifetime

lol i dont care about GG, i care about the program.. This wasnt a Rutgers decision. They wanted him back and lost him. Its a devestating blow
You may be right but let’s give it another week or so and see what portal decisions come through. If it’s just Martini and we’re targeting another Austin William’s type guard well then yeah.

But if there’s a top tier guard in the pipeline, then it’s not exactly what your saying. They may have wanted him back for the future, but I can understand him not wanting to be 7th or 8th guy on the depth chart as a sophomore. He didn’t beat out Davis last year so even that’s not a guarantee.

Your right - unless there’s a Cam Spencer type lurking in the background waiting to sign. It’s not a reflection of RU program if there are 3+ kids slotted ahead of him at guard.

Some in Griffiths family are very critical of pike.

Kn0wledge is likely his younger brother or GG himself.

We are suspicious that Larry has been very much in GG ear to skip town and likely blamed pike.

A group of us on the discord went deep last night going through lots of the internets bread crumbs.

Verified one of our most frequent posters was Larry.

This is indicative of the way US youth sports is going. If your kid is not playing and/or not playing well, then it’s the coach’s fault. Not the player.

No self accountability. Either get rid of the coach or leave somewhere else is their answer. SMDH.

GO RU

That would make more sense if it was a vacuum. The Harpers obviously had a first hand look and reached different conclusions.

So every program in the nation that loses someone they wanted to keep suffered “devastating blows”???

It’s far from a devastating blow.
well losing your top freshmen recruit 2 out of the past 3 seasons isnt good among other recruiting issues...its the totality...and now there are just 2 returning players, one of which is a borderline big 10 starter

Utah state had zero players 2 months before the season began. They won their conference and won an ncaa game.

This is what college sports has become thanks to NIL.

Losing a 5 ppg 3 rpg forward isn’t a devastating blow

99% agree. If Gavin had come in as a 3* recruit and not a 4*, we'd likely be pleased he's leaving to make room for better/more experienced players in the portal. The 1% difference - he averaged 2.2 rebounds, not 3.

I am a believer that he could develop into a good B1G player, but as he's decided not to stay at Rutgers and fight for the program and his minutes/development here...

Hate to see supposed talent leave.
But since Griffiths didn't play like expected , (He averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, shooting 32.4% from the field and a not so hot 28.4% from three-point range, is nothing to write home to mother about.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over his leaving, just wish he would have returned and shown the talent he has in his soph year.
Let's see where he lands, that will show how other programs look at him now.

@gigantor1024 check out Utah State. This is happening everywhere. It’s going to be the new norm until the rules change again. Virginia and NC state also rebuilt this past year. UConn rebuilt in 2022 before winning the NC.

Larry Johnson was at the RAC....who is Larry

Missing the tournament multiple years in a row.
Losing season
Inept offensively
Players quitting mid season
Lack of Player development
Transfers of top recruits
Chemistry
Culture

Just a few
Think those last 4 are issues with the roster the last few years and not necessarily a program issue.

Transfers of top recruits is a ncaa issue. Lack of player development…sure. That’s on pike and can be an issue.

Chemistry…well..that changes year to year in my opinion. Love the culture here too..

Disagree the program has many issues. Think it’s fine

Who puts the roster together and recruits the players???
It’s Pikes roster so yes those problems are his

If you have a strong culture then the chemistry builds upon itself. You recruit chemistry guys and the culture continues to build. Pike has not done that and one of his most important players in Mag quit on him. Direct indictment of culture and the coach.

We’ll see..next year should be much better culture wise. Bringing in the brother of a former star player here who’s been around the program since he was a kid…his best friend, and four transfers they’re reportedly helping ti recruit is a great start

Chemistry absolutely agreed! Culture no it’s a one and done team so any culture walks when they do!
Optimistic for a season but work to be done
