OT: Michigan 18, RU 0 in softball

Just when I was thinking we may have a team that can compete with the others, crash!

Instead of the negative posts, how about spend 2 seconds to look them up? Michigan is currently ranked 4th in the country behind Florida, LSU and Auburn. The result, while disappointing for sure, is not surprising. Rutgers is actually doing pretty well in the B1G having won series against Indiana and Purdue on the road and Michigan State at home.

We were pitiful just a few short years ago. We're actually good now. Michigan is elite.

Relax on the expectations a bit.

without even looking it up I can tell you that Michigan's facilities probably look more like the Somerset Patriots while Rutgers looks like Manville High Schools

Shillie will never change.

Bull crap. I was damned surprised and I'm sure you were too. . RU was 20-9 and tied for 2nd with the Wolverines in the B1G going into this home game. Michigan beat Ohio State (19-16) in a 3 game series by the cumulative score of 46-2. Are you predicting more of the same?

Rutgers softball is very good this year.

Michigan is #4 in the nation however.

So that result is misleading.

After winning 7 in a row, RU Women's Softball lose one game & Shill starts a thread, no surprise

Softball is currently 3rd out of 14 in the B1G, the highest any of our teams have managed if the season ended today.

Michigan swept OSU and outscored them 46-2 (20-0 in the first game). They swept #14 Minnesota and outscored them 27-6. There seems to be a lack of parity in women's softball.

Is Michigan that much better than everyone else or was it more smoke and mirrors from yet another RU team that got completely exposed when push came to shove?

Good post will go ignored.....

We are now 10-7 in conference with six games remaining: three at Penn State this weekend, and three at home vs Wisconsin next weekend. Penn State is 6-11 in conference and Wisconsin is 3-11 so there is an opportunity to finish strong. The top of the conference standings:

Michigan 15-2
Minnesota 12-3
Nebraska 12-5
Illinois 11-6
Northwestern 10-6
Rutgers 10-7
Ohio State 8-9
Maryland 8-9 (HUGE to get the sweep over the turtles!)

Northwestern hosts OSU and goes to Iowa.
Illinois hosts Purdue and goes to Nebraska.
Nebraska goes to Wisconsin and hosts Illinois.

So we have a shot at climbing to 4th if we finish strong. Hard to see us getting to 3rd or better at this point unless we run the table.

For the casual softball observers, if any:

Tonight is the final game of the softball World Series. #3 ranked Michigan vs #1 ranked Florida. The series is tied 1-1. Winner takes the title tonight. Go Wolverines!

The SEC had FIVE of the eight teams to make it to the College World Series, and a crazy 8 of the final 16 teams. Amazing depth.
