If I exercised stock options offered through a former employer in 2014, should I be getting a 1099-MISC? Or something else?

If your old company uses a 3rd party to handle these transactions (like my company does), then that 3rd party sends out the statement for your tax returns. It will show the strike price, exercise price , number of options exercised, date and other info personal to you . Mine came last week, and in big letters on outside of the letter, it says' Important tax info enclosed". If you don't get this soon, call your old company's HR dept , and inquire.

Hope you put some money aside. Uncle Sam is not kind to Incentive Stock Options when it comes to tax treatment.
