As the Big Ten season is completed, we can projected seedings for the Big Ten Tournament. I believe that the committee only considers matches between Big Ten opponents to determine the seedings. Below are my projections for the top seeded wrestler and the seed for each Rutgers wrestler.

125; Ramos #1 with an 8-0 record. Peterson will likely be seeded # 9 with a 4-4 conference record. As this weight is wide-open, seeding position may not be that important. We know that Peterson has the potential to finish in the top three. Based on his season's record he earns a # 9 seed.

133 Ragusin with a 7-1 record will be the top seed. Three of the next three guys have 6-2 records and Van Dee who beat Ragusin is 6-1. Shawver at 6-2 should be seeded 3rd as he beat Bouzakis who is 6-2 and Shawver didn't face Madrigal who is also 6-2. Madrigal did beat Van Dee. This is a hard bracket to seed.

141 Bartlett at 8-0 will be the # 1 seed. Moore who is 2-3 in the Big Ten will likely by the 9th or 10th seed. I projected 9th seed.

149 Lovett is 7-0 and will be seeded # 1. Cetta has had surprisingly good year replacing Butler. His 4-4 record will yield a 9th seed. He could surprise as he has improved since early in the year.

157 Haines and Blockhus are both 8-0. I project Haines as the top seed.. DeSantos has a 2-4 conference record and will be seeded 11th.

165 Hamit and Mesenbrink are both 8-0. I project Hamit as the top seed. White at 1-6 will be the 13th seed.

174 Starocci is 5-0 and Griffth is 6-0. As Starocci and Griffith didn't compete, I project that Griffith as the top seed as he has more wins. However, I would be surprised if Griffith beats Starocci in an actual match. Turley at 6-2 has a good conference record with losses only to Griffith and Welsh. He has earned a 6th seed.

184 Salazar at 7-0 will be the top seed. Sodano with a 4-3 record should be the 7th seed. He did beat Rogotzke who will be seeded 3 or 4. Rogotzke and Sodano have similar styles and it should be a fun bout if they meet.

197 Brooks at 8-0 has dominated the field and will be seeded # 1. Poz at 4-2 will be seeded 7th. He has the potential to finish significantly higher.

Heavyweight- Kerkvliet who is 6-0 will be seeded #1. Yara at 4-4 could be seeded between 6th and 8th. His bad loss to Cochrane, Penn State's 197 pound backup, will not help his seeding. I predict a 7th seed.

Last year the B1G was pretty much awarded 9 allocations per weight for the NCAA tournament. Obviously it will be slightly different and could even be less this year so if these seeds hold essentially half the lineup (Peterson, Moore, Cetta, DeSantis, and White) will have to at least wrestle to their seed or over perform to get an AQ.

I don’t see any way that Peterson and Moore don’t get bids. The other 3 who knows.

Agreed. Unless something absolutely disastrous occurs, they should be locks for an at large regardless.

These projections by Wrestling by Pirate(his twitter) for the BigTen. He is usually spot on with his allocations. These were done Feb 15th, so can change a little by the final allocations

125-8
133-7
141-12
149-9
157-7
165-10
174-7
184-8
197-7
Hwt-7

Most recent automatic qualifier projections by JMadden who has an excellent track record. He notes that RPI should be fairly accurate. Guys at the bottom of the final coaches rankings could drop out and lose an allocation and others could jump in so that would definitely change the mix. Official rankings and allocations are scheduled to be released on Thursday.

The projections are updated after Sunday's matches.

I think we’ll get 8 qualifiers if Cetta can win a match at big 10s
Sounds about right.. Cetta might be on the bubble, for at large bid, if can’t get top 9.. I have a feeling he will get in.
