This is in regards to one candidate, Texas A&M OC Noel Mazzone.
I've been told that Mazzone really wants this position as he has a lot of family in New Jersey and he is willing to take less than the $800,000 he was getting at Texas A&M. The way Mazzone's contract is structured his salary is $600,000 and he gets an additional $200,000 each year he is employed so he is in line for that bonus on January 1st however if fired without cause he is owed $500,000 from Texas A&M.
As Bobby has mentioned on the board Mazzone has spoken with Ash about the job a few weeks ago but since that conversation there have been no further efforts on the Rutgers side to reach out to Mazzone which leads me to believe they like one of the other targets more.
