Maryland is making a statement in many sports since joining the B1G.
We are slowly moving in the right direction, but folks have to understand the the damage caused by Gruninger and prior top officials at Rutgers was going to take a long time to turn around. Being irrelevant for so long cost us much needed money that had to be invested in our athletic department. We are now playing catch up without financial support to match what we need. IN the meantime we've made some progress. Football was the cornerstone to start that process and Mulcahy and Schiano turned us on that corner to make us relevant (for the B1G). Basketball had way too many setbacks caused by Mulcahy and in part Pernetti. Julie's hands are tied here but if she can get funding for a new arena, things may look up. As for the other sports, I think progress will be made in next few years as facilities and support shore up. Only way to speed up timetable may be to find our Kevin Plank or equivalent.

With this move, many "experts" think Maryland may be the team to beat...not in the Big 10 per se...but in all of College BB...you have Sulimon; Trimble; Layman; Diamond Stone and an assortment of other good players including a real good transfer - Turner (I think his name is) - from G Tech

It's Robert Carter from Georgia Tech. Skilled talented big man, who will be a perfect compliment to Diamond Stone. Will be interesting to see how the new parts mesh. Tons of talent. Also can't discount the loss of Dez Wells though.
