"‪Going the extra Myles"

With a year of conditioning/strengh hes gonna be very good. Word was before an injury he was a force out in CA. Great under the radar grab. Him and Geo will be very solid for us.

Johnson has a quiet confidence to his game. He will be of use this season.

Let's go Johnson!Enjoy your time here on the BANKS.

Watching video of him from high school he seemed more like a project to me. Hope he'll be ready to contribute this season however. Would be a pleasant surprise to me

Greater passer and timing around the basket.I saw a lot more project out of Doorson. I see a smart player in Johnson. I think he will see 11-16 mpg. Still four months of weight room, etc.

I think Johnson might just get more minutes than Doorson. Luke Nathan will probably even get some minutes at center.

The roster is so thin at the center position, it is scary we might have to give a freshman walk on minutes. Based on the roster we are probably going to have to play a smaller more athletic lineup, using Sa at center more often.

Sa-Doorson-Myles is the Center depth/rotation. I think Sa will be a pretty decent starting Center in the B1G. Little to no chance Nathan gets minutes

Respect the optimism... but no.

Doorson seems like a great kid, but I respect your optimism as well.

My cousin had some low major d1 offers his freshman year. Two foot injuries and I told him to put more emphasis on the books. Too much aau hardwood 6 games a day.

JRH51, No about what? Johnson getting more minutes than Doorson or Nathan possibly getting a few minutes or both? I have been going to games since 1971 and have seen just about every home game except for a few since 1976. I have seen Doorson for two complete seasons plus a sit out year and I just don't see where he is ready for major minutes. I hope I am wrong. I think Johnson just might get more minutes than Doorson. Nathan I feel could get like 3-5 minutes. Sa could play a lot of center too. This is my opinion and I think you just might be only a rookie judging by how little posts you have. We are all entitled to our opinion but all you say is no. What is your thought process?

First of all, just because I haven't been posting frequently on this board doesn't mean I haven't been following the team or watching every game for the past 10 years...

I really hope Johnson is able to play more than Doorson, as I agree with you in that I don't think Doorson is deserving (or able) to take on heavy minutes. You're right, Sa will play nearly all of his minutes at the 5 this year - i'd guess 20-25 a night whenever possible. What you aren't taking into account is that both Johnson (and certainly Nathan) don't have the frames to bang against the bigs in the B1G. Johnson certainly will get a decent amount of minutes during the OOC, but he is too "soft bodied" (as of now) to be down in the post against the Isaac Haas' and Nick Ward's of the world for extended periods. Also if Nathan is getting any sort of minutes, that means Pikiell is running a 12 or 13 man rotation... that won't happen.

While I don't expect Nathan to get major minutes, don't forget how deep Pikiell went last year. Even in Big Ten games, he used his whole roster. Did some kids not play every night? Of course. But Pikiell wasn't afraid to give minutes to kids who played hard. Who can forget the key minutes Dadika played in the comeback against Illinois or the important points Diallo scored against Seton Hall? Pikiell, if he feels the kid can handle it, will play you. Will Nathan get nightly minutes? No. Will he play in games the way the roster is built right now? It wouldn't stun me, if he does his job in practice.

I 100% agree. I just don't think people should be going in with the expectation of Nathan being a contributor at all next year - or averaging 5 minutes a night...

The only way Johnson takes Doorsons minutes is due to injury which with Doorson is likely. However Doorson is VERY skilled. Bigs thrive as upperclassmen. If you told me Doorson would be close to 100% this season for the whole year it would change my outlook for the season.

If it's in there Coach Young will bring it out. What he did with improving the games of Gettys and Freeman last year was impressive.

Very skilled may have been the wrong term. Let's put it this way if he can stay healthy he we be as a junior as impactful as getty and maybe more.

Big misconception here.....the B1G does not have all these big centers you speak of.....can you name them? It has more "skilled" centers than Big bodied centers.

It's funny, because last year the pre-season knock on Gettys was that he was not athletic enough for the athletic centers in the B1G. Now we are talking about guys not being big enough for the big bodied B1G centers.....which one is correct?

Big men that are very skilled usually don't stay in college that long.

Can't see this unless he makes a huge leap in his game. He's offensively challenged and doesn't do much of anything that stands out. Hoping he can serviceable.
