10 Coach Limit to be Lifted Tomorrow?

With college athletics moving to a semi-pro model a decent number of these restrictions don't really make much sense anymore. I would think we'll be seeing more changes going forward, especially in football as the P4 break away from the rest of the conferences.

Think it's a formality because teams have been ignoring this for a bit. How else would you explain RU not having a special teams assistant coach the last few years. Yet those units all practice and scrimmage.

Special teams have always been coached by position coaches. The online couch may coach long snappers, wr coach return men etc.

Just another way for the big money programs to leverage an advantage.
Exactly why this is bad news. Up and coming recruiter at say Indiana now can be hoarded by a school like Ohio State which could double his salary. Perfect example is Shaw at Rutgers. He done an amazing job with RB at Rutgers. He is currently making $250k. What is stopping a Michigan from offering him $500k to be a second running back coach? You can’t blame the guy for taking it because of what it would mean for his family.

Sort of. Generally there still is someone designing and implementing game plans not just coaching the individual spots.

It’s funny reading some of these comments.

You guys realize we’re “rich” now, right?

It’s all relative. Obviously we aren’t Ohio State, but we aren’t Syracuse.

It’s funny- I was thinking the same thing. Even in the thread about the $20 mil NIL.
We are now in a conference that both of these things help us as we should be able to take advantage of both.
As you said, maybe not to the level of Mich or OSU but it puts us into a space above so many other schools in the P4.
