2.75mm assistant pool in year 1

How much more do you need 500k for the C's and carve up the rest on the 8 assistants? That is 280k a piece.

Pretty much what I expected a few weeks back. Pick up a coordinator from a P5 school or a HC from a G5 school for $1.5-2M, then pay the staff about $4.5M total. So much for opening the pocketbook.

Here we go. All new staff and systems again this year. All with 8 starters on both O & D coming back. Keep the lights on In the basement another 2-3 years

That's not bad. I was hoping for $3 million. That's is $340,000 if spread equally. If you give OC & DC $600k that leaves 250k to 260k for each assistant.

This. We hired Friedgen at 600K. At 600K, Fridge's salary placed him in the top half of the conference for OCs.

We can pick up B1G level coordinators at 600K each.

I wonder what Ash's incentive comp looks like....

Hire a good recruiting OC and pay him 600k to 900k. Ash acts as DC and you pay an up and coming defensive position coach with a strong recruiting background, make him co-DC pay him 300-500k depending on what you are paying you OC. Split the rest between the staff according to experience. Campanile makes 200k, there is a decent amount of money to get solid people in place.

For god sake you NEGATIVE NANCY'S, let this play out. If Ash wants a certain OC or DC and other coaches here, he'll get the money. That figure wherever the hell it was gotten from is NOT set in stone. Man, some of you can't help yourselves being Debbie Downers all the time can you?

So we're spending 35% more on our entire coaching staff than we did last year and have moved from dead last in salaries and into the company of schools we are on par with and people say it was a "cheap" move. UNREAL.
No research, they just post and look like fools.

The board is full of a bunch of whiners and weenies.....

Some of the comments get worse by the minute. I am sure if Ash may be able to hire a top notch assistant then there would be some way to make it happen. Let's stop trying to find ways to be negative.

Guys $600k for a DC and OC in year one isn't bad. Top ones in the country are $900k and those are the elite programs

In 2014 Rutgers paid their assistants $2.45 million. That was 8th highest in the B1G and 38th overall. Fridge was the highest at $500k, followed by Rossi at $300k, D Wilson at $260k, Panagos $250k, and N Wilson $210k. It sounds to me like there's room to maneuver.

So are you suggesting we bring in a new coach but handcuff him by requiring he not make any changes? Or are you suggesting we should have kept Flood? I disagree with either point.

I don't think it's cheap and it should be enough to make some good hires.

But it certainly doesn't support the notion that "money isn't an issue" like some people keep saying.

A major part of that is based on the head coach salary increase..
head coach: 1.2m to 2m (66% increase)
staff: 2.585m to 2.75m staff (6.3% increase)
total: 3.785m to 4.85m (28.1% increase)

Not sure what numbers used to get 35% or if just rounding but its all head coaching.
6.3% is an inflationary increase

Excited about the hire, excited about him assembling a staff.. not a home run increase though.

No research, they just post and look like fools.

Kind of like this response? 6.3% increase for staff which is the topic of the thread. Look for one positive quote and call everyone a fool? Very silly behavior.

i cant find it now but i think $2.75 will put us in upper middle of our peers, right behind the big boys. I'm perfectly fine with that for now.

Staff was 2.4m(less RF)to 2.75 12.72%
Cheap would be the loosest spend in the B1G, this is more middle of the pack.
6.3% would be double the prime!

Extra million dollars is not bad. HC salary is competitive instead of lowest in the league. Use the extra $200,000 to bump up the Co-ordinators salaries. Find young hungry assistant or even GA for DB's and let Ash mentor him.

Someone posted the assistant pay from other B1G schools, excluding NW and PSU, somewhere. The $2.75M is obviously not at the OSU or Michigan level, but was somewhere in the middle.
