This type of thread usually gets posted a little closer to the season. I've had a chance to review all the opposing teams (thanks to Mr. Steele). I'll post my predictions, which in August are always a little optimistic. Last year I predicted 6-6 overall and a "suprising" 3-5 in the B1G ..so I was in the ballpark. I'm basing this on a little better than expected QB play this year.

W RU-45 NFSU-10 If this is close in any way ..not a good sign.
W RU-27 WSU - 24 Some think this is a win. I believe it will be a very close game. A key game this year.
L RU-16 @ PSU- 24 Don't see it happening, PSU's run defense is good and their OL should be better.
W RU- 41 Kansas- 17 This game should not be close..otherwise problems exist.
L RU-17 MSU- 38 Top 5 team comes in and RU is not at this level.
W RU- 34 @ Indiana-31 Very important game imo and tricky. Indiana will have QB Sudfeld back..top QB.
L RU-14 OSU -45 See MSU.
L RU- 24 @ Wisky- 34 A lot closer than last year, but not enough.
L RU-21 @Mich - 35 I expect Michigan to be much better this year because of the HC.
W RU- 27 Neb- 24 Here's my big upset special. RU beat up. Neb hosts MSU at home week before. Upset.
W RU - 34 @Army - 21 More attrition. Win with better players.
W RU - 27 MD- 20 Final game..the Srs play a big role in this tough game.

Overall 7-5 BIG - a "suprising" 3-5 again. Bowl bound. .

W RU-45 NFSU-6
W RU-42 WSU - 24 I don't think it will be close. We run at will and our QB hits a couple of big plays- they turn the ball over early and can never recover.
W RU-24 @ PSU- 14 OL is better than what? Slightly better then horrible? We won't have 5 INT's or 10 other plays that kill us. Hack is sacked 5-6 times
W RU- 41 Kansas- 7 Just cant see any way they score more than once.
L RU-10 MSU- 38 .Tough game
W RU- 24 @ Indiana-17 We run run run
L RU-14 OSU -35 A bit better then last year only because we know what is coming. They may be one of the top 5 teams in CFB history.
L RU- 24 @ Wisky- 34 Damn, I want to say we can win- how is our QB doing? OL? RB's stay healthy and are OL clicking?
W RU-27 @Mich - 24 We are going to be their "every ****ing year" team
L RU- 24 Neb- 27 Could go either way- high after a big win and it carries over or we are burnt out from the emotional win the week before.
W RU - 34 @Army - 13 We are clicking now and one of the top run games in the nation.
W RU - 27 MD-3 How do they plan to score?

8-4 4-4 conf.

We beat everybody but PSU, MSU, OSU, and one other wtf game. Any game we lose is wtf though to me

6-6 (wins over Norfolk,WSU,Kansas, Army, Indiana,Maryland). Close road losses to UM and PSU define the season.

Many are pretty optimistic to say the least . I still do not see us being able to beat the top teams in the conference with all of the questions we have right now, but that could change if things are better than some of the early worries don't materialize. I will be very satisfied if we win our share of games again and are a lot more competitive against the powers.

Sorry...I just to get WTF games.

WTF games is just a nickname for upset loses. In other words, you lose to a team you are a heavy favorite to beat. So knowing that, RUwoz must think that Rutgers will be heavy favorites against all schools this year or he doesn't know what the term WTF games mean.

I agree with this. With the "QB Question" I'm not setting my expectations very high. Last year's weak conference opponents will be stronger this year. It'll be tough to match last year's record. I aimed low last year and was thrilled with the outcome. Hope for the same this year.

I can't do this analysis until we get some more info on the QB situation. I believe RU can win anywhere from 4 to 8 games based on QB play.

I believe RU might be able to upset some of the opponents RU fans feel there's no chance of winning.
But I'm more optimistic than many other RU fans are.
There are four games , in my opinion, some RU fans might feel a win is unattainable, of those 4 , two might be
considered schools RU might be able to upset..

Outrageously optimistic prediction 10-2

Better to be disappointed during the season ,then give up before the season starts.
Who knows what the future holds , I might wind up being happy at the end of RU's 2015 season

10-2 sounds good to me

I think we can attain 7 Wins, but i'd hedge and go with 6 based on new QB.

Here is how i see our chances:

85% Wash. St.
51% at Penn State
90% Kansas
10% Michigan State
80% at Indiana
1% Ohio State

This season will be defined by the results of 3 games....PSU, Michigan, and Nebraska. Find a way to take 2 and it'll be a very good year, all 3 and RU could find themselves playing in the biggest bowl a RU team has ever participated in.

Being a Pollyanna First Class I refuse to acknowledge the alternative lol.

I love the idea of putting %'s next to these games, but I must say "theRU" I am confused by your percentages you came up with and must "constructively disagree." You have Indiana being a team we will have a better chance of beating that Washington State and Kansas...

In my opinion I think Kansas is the EASIEST game of the 3. I say this because Indiana has a legitimate NFL-bound Quarterback who has been in the Indiana system for multiple years. Granted they lost their RB, but this Sudfield guy might be able to fill Tevin Coleman's production through the air. They always say that the biggest factors in an upset is EXPERIENCE PLAYMAKERS and Sudfield would be definition of that.
Additionally, I think Washington State will be a tougher game than Kansas because they will be coming in for "revenge." They also have tape of us and have experienced us first hand so they will be more prepared for us than Kansas will. Anyway, these games are close, but I do think Washington State will be a tougher game than Kansas. And Indiana will be a tougher win than Washington State.

I think the Michigan and Penn State games are going to be the toughest to predict at this point because there are SO many variables on our team as well as on their teams. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if our team comes out and gels together and beats BOTH PSU and Michigan. And then on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if we have massive growing pains because of our QB and despite our defense, wide receivers, and rbs, we could possibly lose both games in a close fashion.

Either way it makes for exciting football and I CANNOT WAIT for this upcoming season and I am leaning towards us being able to pull out both of these games.

I think people are going to be surprised by our defense this year because you cannot underestimate just HOW big of a jump it is from our old competition to the BIG10 so no matter how much our kids THOUGHT they were prepared, I think it was obvious to them as well as everybody else that they weren't. But LUCKILY that means that this past year I guarantee our kids were preparing their butts off and eating and lifting even harder because they KNOW what to expect now and I think this is going to make a significant difference in the trenches. We still might get run on a lot by OSU and Wisconsin, but I think the rest of the BIG10 is going to have a much harder time this year.

Plus on top of our guys mentally being more prepared and most definitely having a better off season than they did last year.......

WE ARE ALSO BIGGER ALL ACROSS THE BOARD on the DL. (And I think the OL as well, but feel free to correct me about the OL)

More size combined with being more prepared is going to serve us well. PLUS, the core our of DL gained a year on the OL's they will be going against so this season so THAT IS ANOTHER factor in our favor as well.

Very happy we open with Norfolk this year.
THIS:
I can't make any predictions until I see our kicking game. Kicking off, punting, covering, accurate timely snaps from center and field goal effeiciency could make the difference in 3 or 4 games!
Sorry but I have to see it, there's no such thing as lets assume it's average...IMO

So upsets don't happen to teams that are focused .

WTF games are not upsets. An upset can be when a favored team ( can be only a 3 or 7 point favor) losses to the Opponent. Can be a good game by both teams.....one performed better than expected, WTF Game is when a favored team plays a game where they look totally clueless and not well prepared at all. Game planning sucked and execution absent. Result= real bad loss.

6-6 with 7-5 potential. Our depth at several spots worries me and if we get injuries at those positions for a prolonged period of time (CB, LB, FB, TE, DT) I think it will be tough to get 7 wins.

W RU-38 NFSU-0 A lot of Agudosi and Carroo in this one.
W RU-41 WSU - 35 They torch our secondary, but a HUGE game from Josh Hicks and a big stand to hold them off late wins us the game.
W RU- 30 @ PSU- 13 Turay, Hamilton, Mera and Longa all record sacks. (Insert QB) has a big game with McDaniels extremely opening up the playbook. ttfp is no longer Unrivaled.
W RU- 24 Kansas- 3 Confident defense keeps it going against an undermanned Kansas.
W RU- 19 MSU- 16 I'm not huge on MSU this year, and I truly think we will put up yards against the NoFly Zone. This game completely comes down to our red zone defense.
W RU- 34 @ Indiana-24 Dream season keeps going. PJ has some big moments and Rutgers grabs a top 15 ranking.
L RU-17 OSU -28 tOSU ends the dream. They are playing their 8th game in a row I do think fatigue will be an issue for tOSU, but they are just too talented.
L RU- 10 @ Wisky- 45 Wisconsin has such a nasty defense with Biegel and company. Our QB struggles and the defense gets manhandled.
W RU- 31 @Mich - 30 Federico with a last second field goal beats a struggling Michigan team still searching for an identity under Harbaugh. Watch out for them in 2016.
L RU- 17 Neb- 35 The blackshirts come to play and Tommy armstrong has a big game. Overall, Nebraska is in store for a bad season but it comes together for them on this day.
W RU - 45 @Army - 28 Close for a half and then we go off.
W RU - 29 MD- 7 Maryland is going to be BAD this year.

9-3. New Years bowl game.

Norfolk- win easy
Wash st- toss up -- leaning win
Penn st- close loss
Kansas- win easy
Michigan st- loss
Indiana- toss up -- leaning loss
Ohio st- loss
Wisky- loss
Michigan- loss -- potential close game
Nebraska- likely loss, but could see an upset here
Army- win
Maryland- toss up -- leaning win

I see three highly likely wins in Norfolk, Kansas, and Army. Any win after that is going to be very hard fought. Washington State, Maryland, and Indiana are the likeliest candidates for the next three wins. Nebraska being at home and right after a huge week for the Huskers is a great opportunity for an upset. OSU, MSU, and Wisky are not happening... out of the question. Dantonio doesn't let MSU overlook anyone, and I don't know if you guys have ever been out to Madison but that may be the toughest place to win a game in this conference.

As for Michigan and Penn State... I know you are optimistic after last year and rightfully so, but that is the worst you will ever see those two programs. Winning at their place is a very tall order, especially after you beat Michigan last year. I could maybe see Penn State happening but that is such a tough place to play and they will be much improved.

As a Buckeye fan, just thought I'd bring a different perspective. I'll be coming out to New Brunswick this year for the OSU-Rutgers game. Wish you guys all the best and may Rutgers please beat Harbaugh's army of khaki pants. Will be rooting for you in all but one or two games.

Thought about it and made some tweaks... An average team will go 6-6 against this schedule , a good team 8-4, a great team will go 9-3 maybe 10-2, and the great team in RU history will go 12-0 /11-1.

A below average team 4-8, and a terrible WTF team will only win 1-2 games.

Norfolk State-Win (Can't wait until FBS vs FCS games don't exist.)

Washington State-Win (they have to travel across country and don't have a QB)

@ PSU-Win (They are getting so much hype, please go in and beat their asses.)

Kansas-Win (I'm a KU follower/fan and they are going to struggle. Just run it down their throat with an occasional pass over the top.)

Michigan State-Loss (Sparty is damn good and could win the B1G this year.)

@ Indiana-Win (They lost one of their best defenders, and their D still sucks. They will have a good offense though, luckily they don't have a home field advantage. I think you guys win this by a few TD's, but you will need to score at least 35 to feel safe.)

Ohio State-Loss (At least it'll be cool to have such an elite program like tOSU come into Piscataway.)

@ Wisconsin-Loss (Madison is one of the toughest places to play in the country. Their fans are dicks too. I think it's close, but it just depends on your offense. I don't think they score a bunch this year with Stave as their QB.)

@ Michigan-Loss (But this could go either way. I just think back to back road games in big environments will be a lot to handle. If your defense can shut them down you will have a shot.)

Nebraska-Loss (BUT I will not be shocked if you beat us. This will be our 11th straight game. We have a bye week finally after you guys and traveling to Jersey will be a long flight. It depends on how beat up Nebraska is. This is the trap game all Husker fans are worried about this year. I wish I could make it out to this one.)

Army-Win (WTF are these guys doing playing FBS. They should be playing down a division.)

Maryland-Win (How will they score? Please beat them too.)

7-5 , but wouldn't be shocked to see 8-4. Hoping you guys go 8-4 and do well again this year on the recruiting front. Good luck RU!

Confidence level from most confident to least....

PSU

Of course that can change day by day, week by week. That's why CFB is great fun. So much unpredictability.

It all depends on the O-line. If the O-line gels then this can be a good season because with all the good RBs RU should be able to run the ball and control games keeping the pressure off an inexperienced QB. I think with a good offensive line you are looking at 8-4(9-4 with a bowl win). If the line struggles this is a 4-8 team. As crazy as this seems you should be able to tell how the O-line will be after the Norfolk State game. RU will win the game easy on athletic ability alone, but if you see and lot of second and long situations, after a 1st down runs, then this could be a long season.

6-6, 2-6, Fort Worth Bowl. Wouldnt be surprised to see us drop one of Indiana and MD (probably not both), nor to beat one of Michigan, PUS, or Nebraska (but probably not more than one.)

With a win in the bowl game we go 9-4. Lose to OSU and MSU ... Wisconsin is closer than last year, late TD brings us within 10, Nebraska we are in the game until the 4th, game ends down by 7 (hoping for an upset win here, but counting it as a loss)
