The Washington Huskies will probably be firing their coach after the season, if he doesn't leave on his own.
Formerly of Roselle Catholic, I assume that connection is a solid one for Pikiell.....we will get pieces in here to get things turned around
He is a small point guard, handles the ball exclusively for his offense. He is about 5 9, 511 tops. Small, but he is physical and can handle contact at the rim. Whereas Sanders is very fancy and almost seemingly neglects easier layups, Washington is pretty basic there. Gets there, a simple layup does the job.
He can take people off the bounce at an average to above average player. In HS, he is a set shooter right now. Not someone taking opponents off the dribble for a 3. Set shots make up 75% of his shots behind the arc, 25% off the dribble. He has a working jump shot that is still in progress.
He can find his team mates in small quarters. He can drive, but also distributes relatively well.
He like to compete. Has a fire for the game.
Just an assessment from two clips I saw of him.
Sure, tall players are nice, but it is not everything, and sometimes you take who you can get. This kid has a chip on his shoulder I am sure, and do not write him off for being small enough. If his legs can move, he will stay in front of his man.He is an above average prospect, and I am sure he is out there to prove people wrong.
He is above average. If Rutgers landed him, I would not be unhappy.
He is well spoken, knows the ins and outs of recruiting. He seems to like Pikiell.

Let is be noted, Washington has switched from Roselle Catholic to Teaneck. He had to sit out the first month of the season. With Pikiell as the coach, it is not will defend. It is you defend or you do not play. Every kid from here on out will be a average plus defender. Until the offensive power comes that warrant kids being lazier.
My big thing is that, plus find players and get them more space.
I think if he came here, he can split with another player. I do not know if he is a starting, 30 mpg point guard. Knights1212 was told Baker will play a good amount of point here. I'd be comfortable with Washington playing 20 mpg.
Has a Myles mack type of vibe, but not the same shooter. If Mack was coached with Pikiell, he is a top five primary ball handler to ever play here. Notice I did not say PG. Although, I thought Mack improved his last year a lot as a PG. Watching Mack play was great.

A key thing is that Baker is a player coming here that can shoot off the dribble. That leaves me very optimistic.Williams was a touted shooter, but his arms are not as long as Bakers, and Williams was a set shooter. Very different. Washington and Baker can co exist. Pikiell likes to run his players, which could leave Washington with a great role, but not the keys to the Bentley.
I know Washington liked Washington basketball because he likes the pick and roll. Pikiell has some pick and roll, but also a lot of ball movement and 3 in,2 out.
:"Sometimes you take who you can get" is the story of Rutgers the last 2 decades and that type of recruiting has resulted in bottom league rankings in the Big East and the Big Ten.
I meant that in the terms of that you can not always get a 6 4 kid with Washingtons skills. They are elsewhere. You take this kind of kid. He splits the role if you cannot get someone that has the keys to the role.
Would pass. Doesn't have the size. Believe he his a more mid-low major player. Game is magnified up there in Teaneck because the competition isn't that great. When he was at RC in a tougher conference playing a tougher schedule. He looked majority of the time as a kid who was just out there. Good kid honestly just not a good fit for us IMO
Yes. Can they make free throws, can they knock down 3's and can they make another big 10 roster.
I hear you. I think Pikiell would still go after another kid, but the offer was made as a stop gap. Washington is tough, but he would be a part of a big cog. He would not exist as the cog himself.
New locker room, new gym. Look on facebook for the pictures. Also, Pikiell selling a future, and seemingly succeeding.

The parsing of sentences is left to the elite members (Heisman Winners).
A small point guard who can't shoot is not the answer to RU's myriad offensive problems on the perimeter.
